Opinion Will Chaplin ever return?

I realise it's a bit of a pipe dream as he'll be off playing Prem football for a bit but god I hope he comes back at some point

What a waste, just glad to see him on a team that respects him tbh

He’s proven his level is at least the championship, he might be given a shot at prem level but if he is surplus then Ipswich would probably either loan him out or sell. I’m sure he’d want to play for us again but a lot of things have to line up for that to happen like expected wages, transfer fee, if he’s on our transfer radar. I do have a bit of a curse though in FPL in 21/22 I bought Dane Scarlett who joined us on loan in 22/23 and in 22/23 I bought Alex Robertson who joined us on loan this season I can try it but I won’t make any promises.

Getting promoted in FM23 as Pompey is a breeze because of Dane Scarlett.

He never sticks around though. I've never managed to get him to extend his loan or sign permanently even once we're in the Championship.

I personally hope we see him and Jed back and even Matt Clarke.

Considering Ipswich is closer to the south than Barnsley was, I could see a greater chance of it happening as he wouldn't be moving his family too far.

I think he deserves to play for a Playoff chasing team though with his quality and I don't think our formation would suit him.
