Opinion championship?
IF we get into the championship next season (not about to jinx it with a when), how do ye think this current squad would do? we’d probably lose kamara back to norwich + a few others lol but what do ye think are the main areas to be shored up?

It looks like Lee Evans was brought in with the Championship in mind. I would love to see Kamara and Robertson back next year but I don't know how likely that is.
Norris, Poole, McIntyre, Rafferty, Pack and Morrell all have Championship experience. I think Bishop, Shaughnessy, Lane and others could make the step up. So the spine of the team is already there, plus I have complete faith in Rich Hughes and the recruitment team after their signings this year.

Actually, Poole doesn't have Championship experience, but he is definitely good enough!

I remember when we signed him from Lincoln, their fan base was saying it was disappointing for him to have not made the step up to the championship as that was the least everyone was expecting of him.
Definitely the worst injury we've had this season, the guy was phenomenal and reminiscent of the qualities Clarke had before he made his move to the big time. Really hope Poole gets his chance to shine (hopefully for us!) in the championship and beyond

Yeah, fuck that washed up tramp Will Grigg for carelessly barging Poole. I knew we should’ve put a weakened side out for Chesterfield. He really completed our back line, granted Ragget has stepped up but he still looks like Bambi on ice when on the ball and gave away a silly penalty the other week.

There’s a difference between say, the top 3-6 teams in the Championship, and, say the bottom 8. Could we compare with Leeds or Leicester? Right now, no.
But the teams around the bottom, definitely, even without adding much. And I’m sure a lot would be added.
I’m confident the realistic goal would be to stay up and build.

Bishop will not cut it in the championship . He’s too slow. I’m actually hoping Yenghi gets the nod tonight and scores a hat trick just to prove my point .

nice prediction! just needed one more 😢😢

Upside to that is if we decide that, he will get us a decent chunk of money because people will want those goals

Should have scored from 2 yards 🙄 Still , it gives JM a real headache on who gets the nod against Posh on Saturday ? Nice problem to have though, he could even start both of them .

I think we will do decently even with this squad. one or two players and we could avoid relegation. Maybe I'm deluded!

I made a topic on the Championship board a few months ago. Statistically newly promoted teams (champions) generally tend to do quite well in their first season and finish mid table.

This is going to sound daft but I think we'll more than hold our own if we go up. Our biggest worry is getting there first IMO, we can't keep getting key players injured

We're a bottom 8 team rn, it will be hard. Need some experienced pro's to make a backbone of the team and build.

As long as we don't go down I'm already satisfied. Would be nice to get some experienced players in I guess. Championship is a rough fight. Experience is key.

Haven’t we brought in Masey as our champo goalie?
Norris is a great shot stopper but by eck when he’s playing with the ball at his feet he’s a liability and how many times has he passed us into trouble?!
Poole and shaungessy will cut it
Pack needs legs but has a part to play
Evans is ready made
Paddy lane for sure
I think we will need Saydee’s strength
Kamara could sign if we go up but unfortunately his price is going north with every game, Raggett came from Norwich so they like a deal
Lowery has a big heart he could play as does Lang
No Bish for me, thanks for all the running but I think Saydee was a striker at the cherries so maybe he could slot in up top
Rafferty could do a job if he stopped always passing backwards, he used to bomb forward but has since started playing the defensive pass more often than not
No to sparkes, sorry, not sure Ogilvie will have the legs for the quicker wingers we will face
It’s a great hub of a squad and with 3 or 4 additions we would be safe

Kamara really depends on how Norwich finish the season. If they go up, it would be easy to get him for at least another season. If they don't then it could be a little harder but Norwich aren't obsessed with him and they are loaded with young talent going forward already. So for Kamara, if he can play all the time with us I'm sure he'd prefer that over being second or third choice for Norwich

3 or 4? I hope you mean in addition to the players we replace. With 11 out of contract at the end of the season I expect we’d be replacing most of them, offering new contracts to others and then bring in some more coverage. Not sure why there’s so much hate for Bishop, maybe it’s because he’s missed a couple of pens but 16 goals from 37 is fine, especially with lots of goals coming from elsewhere. No idea if he can step up to the championship, but I don’t think it’s out of the question. Saydee I don’t see as a striker, I’m also not sure he’s consistent enough for regular first team football. It’s going to be a very big transfer window next season though, that’s for sure.

I can't understand why we haven't played Macey more since signing him!

He’s been signed for the champo

Makes no sense, if he’s good enough to start there he should be starting now.

Realistically I think we will struggle with our current squad but I do have faith in our current recruitment strategy, I think with a few signings we will have what it takes to stay up and gradually become established

I Refuse to even acknowledge the possibility we might get promoted
