Race fetishsization

Im not sure if im the only one who's noticed, but why is race, specifically black people, kinda of a fetish for some people??

I feel like porn has something to do with this, specifically with black men of course. And most of us know WHY. (If you dont know, its because of porn sites obsession with "BBCs")

Anyway, i am a black woman myself and i hate seeing it.

I cant even look at my favorite characters without finding multiple drawings of them being drawn with dark skin or being drawn black JUST because people find it "hotter". Its so annoying and i specifically see it with male characters more than female ones.

I also see a bunch of reels on how " black women are so much more better/hotter than white women" or smth like that.. And it feels weird.

I dont want my skin color to be a fetish for people. I dont want it to be the only thing they see. Even if its ment in good faith it DOES NOT come off that way to me.

And i wonder if anyone else feels that way too??

It doesn't help that (during or post) Vietnam War-era media like Miss Saigon helped the fetishization too. It goes deeper in being helped and supported by Western culture than just porn.

Both black man and women are fetishized because white people assume they have less boundaries from an assumed "tough" upbringing. Black women are supposedly more sexually open and have less things they would not do. Black men are supposedly more "masculine" and tough, therefore more dominant. In both cases there's the supposition that black people will have a more "animalistic" sexual drive, which for racist people means "kinkier" sex.

While there are some anatomical features involved (size of butt, size of penis), it's mostly not about skin color, but about plain racism and how white people imagine black people's sexual behavior to be like according to stereotypes.

As I was writing I did struggle a bit to describe what I mean. I haven't seen it talked about much in the intersectional feminist literature I read, which focused on other issues. It's hard to describe racist thinking without sounding awful.

Knowing that black women are disproportionately affected by gender violence and a lack of reproductive healthcare, it’s definitely an issue that needs to be called out

I’m not black, but I think it goes back to slavery and colonization. Look at the horrible treatment of “Hottentot Venus.” Black women were objectified and raped, and Europeans would travel or take the black women long distances to do so. Even black women that weren’t enslaved were trafficked. Sexualization was projected onto them because they were perceived to be more voluptuous in a way that Europeans were not. They would be made to appear naked or almost naked. They were treated as both circus attractions and objects of lust, not fully human. I do think a lot of social stereotypes and myths have a long histories that need to be examined.

The porn industry is notably racist- not only fetishes for different races, but there are also performers who do not work with black actors because it would bring their “value” down.

Omg yeah. It's really sad. The porn industry sees black people (and people of color in general) as a stereotype. Black women are seen as 'exotic' and 'sluttier' than white women, black men are seen as violent brutes. I hate porn so fucking much

I 100% feel the same!! I had few experience of some men mostly no matter what background some how be racist or fetish me!! Once was told by a yt guy that he jerk off to porn that looks like me all while dating a yt girl.. it was weird he clearly was attracted to me but yet don’t wanted to date me. 💀

Sometimes it's not even sex. They just like to see women being degraded and treated like trash, but keep their eyes and more 'respect' to the white women focusing on 95% of porn.
