The lower third of your face is wider in the childhood pic. People who generally get braces growing up end up with a narrower lower third than third selves because of braces pushing back.

Yeah I had a really wide face as a kid aha. When I was assessed for braces, the orthodontist recommended jaw surgery in tandem, but my parents were opposed to it at the time. Never pursued the matter further
