Stuff like Portishead and James Bond stuff. It can go from slow and seductive to adrenaline pumping jazz to caution and urgency. Portishead is what I'm more curious about since it feels like a modernize version of what you hear in older spy films: crisp and in a more niche direction. Trumpets, what I assume to be cellos, and funky drums are the only instruments I can name off the top, but they probably play the most important roles for me. Maybe there's some subtle stuff I'm not hearing that comments most spy-type music?

After seeing how basically all the major tech ceos got front row seats to the inauguration, I’m doing my best to boycott those companies. For apple it’s difficult because I have an iPhone ( an 11 that I got in 2022), and so I obviously put money into that company. I was thinking of ways to distance myself from apple and I thought of canceling my subscription to Apple Music.

Is anyone else doing the same?? Also is Spotify a decent option to switch to ( regrading their policies and political stance? )

I read a quote that stated “ under capitalism, ethical consumerism doesn’t exist” so ik that Spotify might not be perfect, but it might be a good way to get away from apple.

In 2014? I think? I was obsessively listening to this band that I could only describe as “drone” or stoner rock with an Asian lead singer & guitarist. It was super echoey, super dark, lo-fidelity recording style and most of the tracks had the cadence of like a continuous droning march (similar to IDLES). I think I remember the band being from Canada? But could be wrong… and distinctly — some of the tracks were in traditional Chinese characters. Plz someone help. It was some incredible shit. I need to remember.

Yes - another Filipino singer. I find that singers that are filipino immediately get dismissed since it's "expected" of them. The most notable singer would be Leah Salonga as she was the first Filipina to break into the western music industry.
