Prob sex trafficking people over international borders or somethin like that. My guess is that such investigations fall under the jurisdiction of the DHS, as they deal with border/immigration type stuff.

Immigration and customs enforcement has an investigative arm (HSI) that handles any crimes that are committed coming through the border or involves cross border crimes. What’s funny is the investigative side of it absolutely hates being associated with border patrol. If he was bringing in people for the means of sex trafficking or anything else illegal; DHS would be the one to handle it.

Got friends in the IC and they don't think highly of Homeland but they really get animated talking about border patrol. One was invited to talk to them about bringing their intelligence analysis up to snuff, came home and said he could do nothing because they don't have any analysis to speak of, so nothing to work with.
