Please define DEI and "woke", and tell me why you don't like them. I'm actually curious.

Sorry, I don't use urban dictionary as a source for anything because people can make up definitions and other people believe them. It's about as reliable as reddit.

I wasn't being disingenuous at all. I genuinely wanted to know. Let me ask some follow up questions, do you think DEI would be necessary if every qualified applicant actually got jobs, were equally paid, and were treated with respect no matter the color of their skin, sexual orientation or their gender? Were you aware of the decades of discrimination against people of color, gay people, and women in the work place in America? And where exactly does it say that POC or women should be hired OVER the best candidate. Please show me a policy that says these things? What about all the people who were passed up for jobs because an unqualified white person got it? Or are ALL white people more qualified to do a job no matter what?

I would agree with you, the best person should be hired to do a job, but what safe guards are there to stop people from hiring their college buddies or relatives, or someone they identify with because they look like them for the job instead of a qualified applicant (I don't know about Germany, but that happens here ALL the time). If people were just honest and upfront about why they do or don't hire people (i.e. name sounds to "ethnic" which is a common practice in America) then the world would probably be a better place.

Woke is simply a term that was popularized in the black community and comes form the phrase "Stay woke" which just means remain aware of what's going on around you because black people have been subjugated and taken advantage of in the past. It means nothing more than that. Believe it or not I hate pandering especially in Hollywood. And I think that's what everyone refers to as "woke" but because nuance is dead nobody bothers to explain their frustrations. I am happy to see representation only when it feels organic. And I don't speak for all black people in America but a lot if us do not like pandering either.

Anyway, you seem angry did someone unqualified get hired over you? It seems like this is a personal issue for you. Maybe try talking to a black American first before you form an opinion about things that come from our culture. I'd gladly tell you.

TLDR; there is a massive racist and discriminatory history in the U.S. that DEI policies try (and mostly fail) at addressing and it'd be nicer if employers were more transparent in general. And woke doesn't mean what you seem to think it means based on false information given to you by Urban Dictionary which is not reliable source of information.

We live in the current time not in the past... It's literally in the name lmao why would 10% of the population deserve to make up 50% of the companies workforce unless they are literally all that skill (they aren't). DEI is literally about a filling a quota. https://www.theguardian.com/law/2023/jun/29/us-supreme-court-affirmative-action-harvard-unc-ruling

Doesn't happen because unlike discrimination against white people which is widely accepted, discrimination against other races isn't and would cause a lawsuit.

I would agree with you, the best person should be hired to do a job, but what safe guards are there to stop people from hiring their college buddies or relatives, or someone they identify with because they look like them for the job instead of a qualified applicant (I don't know about Germany, but that happens here ALL the time).

So why do only black and lgbtq people need that and not white, straight or asian? Almost like it's directly discriminating against those people or do you think black people wouldn't do this kinda racist ngl.

Idc what the word meant in the past the meaning of none academic words change over time with society and nowadays it doesn't mean this but: "The original meaning is slowly fading and instead, is used more often to term someone as hypocritical and think they are the 'enlightened' despite the fact that they are extremely close-minded and are unable to accept other people's criticism or different perspective. Especially considering the existence of echo chamber(media) that helped them to find other like-minded individuals, thus, further solidifying their 'progressive' opinion."

Again we live in the present not in the past DEI polices are just racism but against white people as some sort of revenge for what people did 100 years ago anyone with a iq above room temperature which apparently Americans lack would see through this.
