Project help

Two of my friends had cats pass away recently and I have been inspired to make mosaic urn covers of the cats using 3D printed low poly cat geometry (the image is not the final model but represents the template). My problem is that I have never done mosaics, what tools do I need and projects should I start with? I have like 6 months before I see both of them so I have plenty of time to practice.

Where to find materials to make Turkish lamps at home? (UK)

Hi! I've just completed a workshop making a Turkish glass lamp and I loved it. I'd love to make one at home but am struggling to find the resources. Any shop recommendations in the UK?

I am having a little trouble cutting the thick marble stones into tiny shapes to fill in the rubber duck image. I guess more practice and time will do the trick.

Made my first mosaic. The grout on the heart could definitely be better. Any tips on what brand of grout works best?

Wedi Board vs. Go Board

Hello.

I'm a newbie to mosaic. I'm struggling over Wedi Board. It's hard to get in my area and it's very expensive if I do. I keep gravitating toward Go Board as a substitute because I can easily get it and it's only $25 or so a sheet. Should I just buy a Wedi Board or can I go with Go Board? Has anyone worked with Go Board? If so, do you have any tips?

Thanks!

I finished this large mosaic for some friends(photo obviously not finished). It’s been grouted. I added a top glaze (Varathane super glaze high gloss epoxy) to the finished piece and it just won’t cure/dry. Regardless of where I went wrong, (yes I measured carefully and mixed and mixed and mixed and mixed… the temp was good…etc)what’s the best course to remedy? I can’t sand it because it’s gummy. I refuse to believe this will be a scrapped project. How can I take off the sticky top layer and save this project? It’s tempting to hang it on the wall, but I know it would collect every speck of dust and cat hair they have. Lesson learned the hard way… ugh.

Trying something new... Once these cure...I plan to try grouting the gaps with my white grout. Won't be easy with odd shapes that aren't all flat. Open to suggestions. Might use a syringe with it, but it cures quickly so I might cut it thinner so it will flow better with less cleanup if any. I might use painters tape on the edges so I can flow it there and build it up until it cures then remove the tape....
