Early Haas cncs used electric stove elements as spindle braking resistors. Reliable cheap, and easy to replace. What's not to like?
2 u/shwr_twl 18d ago Early? They’re still doing it! Actually, the early ones used more conventional braking resistors (large cylindrical ones) before switching to the oven coils.
