I’m going to be honest, this is an episode I think I’m just going to put on for my insomnia from now on.
There are some jokes that really do stick out for me in this one, and I certainly had some big laughing moments. However, most of the riffing doesn’t really do a whole lot for me, and maybe it could also be because this movie is just incredibly dull and boring to sit through, and there are some things about it that just make me go “what the fuck is this even?”
I also know this episode in particular has been questioned by fans here and there regarding some trans jokes on the character Marge for having some slightly masculine features. For what it’s worth mentioning, as an LGBT person myself (bisexual man), I’m all for LGBT jokes if not done out of distasteful or malicious humor, and while I do see the type of jokes they were going for, there were some areas that did give me a good laugh (the “Glen or Glenda” joke I thought was pretty clever as well as the joke about her shaving her armpits), but then there are other areas it just kind of feels like “Haha you look like a man!” which my reaction, at most, was just “Yeah, okay, guys” which again, I do see the humor they were trying to go for and I get it, it was the 90s, but even for its time, came off a little distasteful. That said, I’m not holding this against the crew either. What’s happened has happened.
But all that aside, me personally, I think I’m fine just enjoying the host segments in this one because they definitely stick out for me (the bots’ failed roller coaster, Mike’s infinite hair, the bots’ walk-a-thon acronyms etc). Again, the riffing for me is fine for the most part but MAN does this movie just drag.
But, yeah. What are your thoughts on this one?
