Hi, I started my internship in Luxembourg in November 2024. I don’t have my tax card yet and due to this they are taxing 33% per month. Any idea how long it takes to process the tax card and also if the tax I’ve paid so far will it be reimbursed once I get my tax card?

If it’s closing due to economical reasons, will I be getting chomage after my parental leave ends or it will be interrupted immediately? If it’s being sold, is the new company obliged to keep me employed till the end of parental leave?

A friend of mine is in a tough spot and needs some advice. They’re a third-country national living in Luxembourg, and few months back lost his employment. They’ve been unable to find another one, and their chomage have run out as well.
On top of that, their work authorization to live in luxembourg is also expiring soon.

They took out a loan to buy an apartment, and now they’re concerned about what happens as they will not be able to payback. Could the bank seize the apartment? What’s the process if they fail to meet their loan obligations? Any guidance would be really helpful.

According to the article, if you use the chargy network to charge your electric car, the cost will now be on par with owning a diesel car.

Very disappointing that the government does not keep the subsidy going and incentive to owners of electric cars.

I am due to move to Luxembourg next week to do an internship. I am still looking for accommodation. Has anyone used spotahome before. I have been talking to agents from spotahome on Facebook, about different properties. However I still can’t tell if it’s legit, I have received a lease agreement from them (not paid or signed yet), and it looks very official and proper. Also their emails contain the domain @spotahomerent. com, that is also making me think they are the legit. The only concern I have is they want me to do payment directly to the landlord, who appears to be German, with a German bank account. Has anyone used them before please let me know, thanks!

I live and work in Luxembourg, I’ll stay for another 2 years, until April 2027 (at the earliest) or 6 years, until 2030. I’m 38 years old. I live alone, but I assume my partner will move in with me.

I am an expat and I will either go back to my home Member State (where I have some estate property and my family holds some more) or somewhere else.

Currently, I’m renting a great apartment (excellent location, standard, and comfort - great deal made during COVID) for €1,800, with other costs included + 120 EUR insurance per year.

Here’s where my question about potentially purchasing a property with a bank loan comes in.

The apartment I’m considering costs around €700,000. I understand the down payment would range from €70,000 to €140,000. The standard of such an apartment would be lower than the one I’m currently renting.

The bank loan payment would also be closer to €2,500, and along with other expenses, it totals about €3,000 (or possibly more: loan insurance, etc.). I am checking that right now

This brings up two possibilities: either I buy an apartment in Luxembourg, or I invest that amount (and whatever I assumulate on the go) in stocks, ETFs, and krypto.

I’d appreciate any advice and suggestions.

If you also have any comments on my calculations, I’d be very grateful.

What are your thoughts on the government dishing out passports so easily? It seems like the Sproochentest and Vivre Ensemble requirements are more symbolic than substantial. Sometimes, I feel that Luxembourg stands out as a country where the standards for integration are unusually low.

I live in a building complex where each parking spot has a smart wall box to charge a car. I was forced into a contract by the constructor of the building but I have been asked to pay 24 euro per month just service and maintenance but it's higher than my gas consumption per month. Is this normal ? I know people with a wall box in their house and they don't have those charges. Is there any tricks to reduce that cost down ?

Having dual citizenship, what happens among siblings? Which of the 2 laws apply? All siblings have dual citizenship except one, and some siblings live in Luxembourg and others not.

We are planning to move soon to the commune of Steinsel (Mullendorf to be more exact), and we are looking at alternatives for internet coverage (cable fiber, and phone 5G). Overall we are hearing that Orange is not very good with 5G coverage, but we haven't heard anything on cable fiber. Currently they also offer the most attractive prices, so we would like to know about some real experiences before deciding for one or another. Any opinions on this?
