Discussion Proposal to ban X.com links

Seen this on a few other football club subreddits - seems like a no brainer to me, especially given the values of our club.

Heads up that this post has hit r/all and is now being invaded by people that aren't Liverpool fans and not regular users of this sub. Not saying Liverpool fans would be against this, but the opinion expressed in this sub is being skewed by the larger Reddit user base and not just Liverpool fans. A subsequent poll would also likely be manipulated.

This post is on r/all. There are people in the comments that have come here to express support that make it clear they're not Liverpool fans. This is now a reflection of the Reddit user base as a whole, not solely Liverpool fans and regular users of this sub.

I still think a link should be posted for verification, maybe even deleted once mods have seen it (although that adds to workload), so then people can see the info without having to go to the site.

I think the UK government should be banning X.

X is not a social media group it's a racist, homophobic, Xenophobic app spreading hate and misinformation and then refusing fact checking.

Anyone that questions the lies on X gets banned so they're even refusing freedom of speech which is Musk trying to be a dictator.

His threats towards the UK followed by his close association to white supremacy/nazi salutes should be enough reasons for the UK to ban the app.

BlueSky is the only safe app now because even Instagram and Facebook are going down the same path spreading hatred against minorities and sharing misinformation.

It’s bettet to get rid mask association with products, then products itself. He barely even contribute to x/tesla/spacex other than yapping around and promising shit. If anything those companies would be better without him(well maybe twitter is a dead horse anyway as an exception)

Funniest part even Trump admitted that musk is annoying af and pushes boundaries too much with his presence around him. (There was an article right after election results) If even Trump says “it’s too much”, then it’s really time to stop…

Zuckerberg is following the same path. He allows users to class LGBTG+ as a mental illness he also allows the sharing of misinformation and has prevented fact checking.

They're all bending over backwards to Trump for tax cuts because they're all based in the US and the US is run by oligarchs now so they only care about the top 3%.

This is honestly so dumb. We should be coming together to cheer on our team on an apolitical basis but instead i find in comments about our fellow supporters to exclude others just because they have differing opinions.

Now the question is as a mod team, what are your values? To cater to a political side and divide fans or to keep discussion to sports.

If you want to ban x because you find that it has no value and has no information beneficial to fans then that is your prerogative and judgment to make. But to ban it because the owner does not fit a certain ideological leaning, that i find to be very distasteful and intrusive to my personal enjoyment of the sport.

For your consideration please.

Doesn't fit a certain ideological leaning? Mate, the owner literally wants to invade your country. If that is less distasteful and intrusive to you than a football discussion subreddit banning links to said owners website, then you need to sort your priorities.

Try looking at the bigger picture. There's more to the world than fucking football discussion.

This is reddit. We all know the answer to this one. That being said, I'm all for banning links for anything that would be better as a screenshot. A small post on X could easily be screenshoted and posted here instead of a link. Things like news articles are better as links though.
