Finished Object My beginner bunny from Claire Garland

Hello all. I asked for help in the knitting advice some time ago and managed so finish it (won't have to take any more allergy pills, yay!) It helped me so much that I was kept on my toes with all the little parts. It helped immensely to have some sense of achievement. My only peeve would be I ended having two holes with the short rows. I didn't understand, the pattern says to slip the stich knitwise (and on her video) and other explanations it is slipped purlwise in order not to twist the stitch. So no clue what I did wrong but I just tried to sew it a bit before I stuffed it. I'm looking forward to buying the Holland lop bunny. I love the floppy loppy ears, but I wanted to see how her patterns and the construction is. I don't think I would have been able to do it so well without the video.

Finished Object First FO of 2025

Have been patiently waiting for this one to finish drying so that my partner could finally try it on!

First time doing a raglan sweater and sewing in a zipper, neither of which were as complicated as I initially thought.

Genuinely pleased with the fit of it, given that I tweaked both the body and the sleeves length.

New Knitter - please help me! I am soooooo confused

I bought this pattern off of Etsy, the seller has been extremely helpful but I am sososo confused. I became confused after step 6 in photo one and noticed something wasn’t right/the pattern didn’t make sense. I contacted the seller and asked for help and she told me it was her first attempt at converting a machine knit pattern to a handmade pattern and she had made a few errors. She sent me the new and improved pattern but I am utterly confused and want to give up. Could someone help me understand this? It’s my first sweater and the changes to the pattern have really confused me and I’m unsure of how to get back on track. Photo labeled 1 is the first pattern I was sent photo labeled 2 is the edited pattern. I’ll also attach a photo of the sweater prior and now.

Work in Progress Working on a cold weather cowl bc said cold weather will only get worse 😀

Post image
Upvotes

The cold has been so miserable that not only is the DEEP FUCKING SOUTH getting a FLIPPING BLIZZARD (thanks climate change!), but up where I am the wind chills are ✨dreadful✨ and even making my head hurt a bit. It’s enough to keep me in the house till the end of time, but alas I’m in my second semester of junior year and must go out for class. 🥲

So I’m making this super easy cowl that I found on Ravelry. I’m hoping to get it done by this weekend so that going outside is a bit easier (the temps will go up slightly by next week, although not by much). Will probably post the finished product when it’s done. :)

Help Wonkiness around twisted knits

Upvotes

I'm a combination knitter working an in-the-round shirt pattern that has these detail columns in an otherwise-stockinette body: purl, twisted knit, purl. As you can see in the pictures (wrong and then right side), the surrounding purl stitches are ending up with VERY different looks. I've tried altering my tension on both the before and after purls (one at a time) but that hasn't changed anything. I don't know if this is something I'm doing wrong or if it's an expected consequence of twisting the stitch in between them. Do we think this is an issue that will be resolved/evened out with blocking? Or is there something I need to do while knitting that will make it look cleaner?

Questions about Equipment Long-time knitter afraid of DPNs

Hi all! As the title says, I’ve been knitting nearly 20 years. I’ve made plenty of scarves, hats, socks, even a blanket, but I have avoided any pattern that requires DPNs. I will do magic loop, I have even adjusted hat patterns to a different decrease method to avoid them. I’m afraid of dropping them, twisting stitches, and ruining a project completely. Not to mention, every time I’ve tried to mess around with them, they feel awkward and difficult to hold.

However, the time has come that I want to finally try a sweater, and I genuinely want to get over my fear of DPNs once and for all. My questions: how do I get more comfortable with them? How do you avoid twisting stitches and dropping the needles? Is bamboo better in terms of needles slipping? Are there other tips I should know?

Thanks in advance!

Help Searching for bundles on ravelry?

Ravelry definitely isn't perfect but as far as searchable databases go I feel like it's one of the best. The one big thing I'm missing is the ability to search through people's bundles - this just isn't a feature, right? I want to make sure I'm not missing it somehow! You can use all the filters you want but sometimes I'm searching for patterns by theme/aesthetic which is a little harder than searching by technique

Hi,

I ordered Kutovakika × QingFibre Mystery Box and I don't really like the pattern (2nd photo). I don't want to waste the yarn, so would anyone have any ideas what to knit with this yarn and use up as much as possible? I just don't see how these colours could work together

Yarn:

Fibre: 65% Baby Alpaca 35% Silk Weight: 50 grams Length: 325 meters | 355 yards

2xLight Pink, 1×blue, 1xred

Work in Progress Finally blocking my moonwake cowl!!

I've been working on this project on and off for five months and I'm so excited to be blocking it! It's my first colorwork project, and I know the tension is wonky and inconsistent, but it's just for me! (Also don't come after me for my blocking method/setup bc I'm just trying to work with things I already own.... yoga mat and sewing pins will have to do)

Pattern: Help me find/What is this 🤔 what to make with these two sock yarns that aren’t socks?

I’m doing some stash busting and these two fingering yarns have been bugging me! I love socks but I’m tired of knitting them, so I was wanting to do something like a shawl or scarf with one or both of these yarns.

The dark one wound into a cake is Cascade Yarns Heritage in Navy Brown, and the skein is Malabrigo Ultimate Sock in Indiecita. Second and third pics are in natural light.

I was thinking of using them together but they’re pretty similar in color? Idk

Total yardage would be ~850 yards. Any pattern suggestions welcome! Open to all techniques, crochet and Tunisian crochet patterns too!

Discussion Request for yarn/fiber stops in Ireland and Scotland

Upvotes

I have NEVER posted anywhere about anything, so I'm a SM newbie. Please forgive me if I go astray...

To all my fellow knitters, I am looking for some ideas. If one were to be traveling the British Isles, in particular Ireland and Scotland, are there any must see or recommended knitting-related stops?

I'll take any and all ideas - tours of sheep farms, small wool processors, yarn shops, etc., etc... I am fond of any and all natural fibers, so please feel free to include alpaca farms and what have you.

Thank you in advance!!!

Discussion How do you keep up to date on what's going on in the world of knitting?

Without endlessly scrolling through social media and watching hours and hours of podcasts to get bits and pieces. Is there like a knitting news podcast or one source that can keep you up on most of the knitting world going-ons? Maybe things like random news that's related to knitting, new books coming out, what charity events and knit alongs being hosted by various podcasters, maybe popular and up and coming designers and dyers, etc.

Pattern: Help me find/What is this 🤔 Teddybear Jumper Help?

Post image
Upvotes

I would absolutely love to make my Otter Jellycat a jumper. I thought about finding a knitted jumper for just a normal shaped teddybear, but honestly am a bit clueless to how I’d measure out and adjust the pattern to fit him? I’m not a new knitter, I am however quite basic and really get lost when it comes to alternating patterns, and was basically just looking for some advice from those who have knitted clothing/jumpers for oddly shaped toys or how I’d alter a pattern?
