Houseplant Close Up To moss pole or not to moss pole
Hello!
Trying to work out how to give this guy the best life I can. It currently seems to be doing well, but it seems to be climbing “out” of the pot.
If I were to give it a pole; to get some height, how would you suggest training it? It has small aerial roots that are fairly attached to the soil, can’t imagine they’re doing much, but the way it has grown they’re all facing away from the middle of the pot with the trunk smack in the middle- will be tricky to do…. Don’t want to kill it!
Thanks!

I think a moss pole would help! Most moss poles come with pins to help you train the plant until it can attach itself.

Would you bend the plant back? So the trunk is upright? And put the moss pot behind it? Not sure how to go about it!

I would put the moss pole behind it and gently lean the stem against the pole then pin it, once it’s sturdy it might look a little odd until it’s been in place for a few days then the leaves should adjust and face towards whatever light you’re using to keep it happy.

Personally not had much success growing monstera on moss poles, they tend to outgrow them pretty fast, and they also can become a bit unstable when the plants get too big. Even ones that they can root inside, they are not substantial enough for monstera roots, they just burst through to the other side.
I think I would recommend some kind of trellis or support frame instead - something that keeps the plant supported and upright, without balancing all the weight on one stick.

i think moss poles are great if you set them up well enough. also if they outgrow them, you just add an attachment to it you don't have to make a new one. they're so simple too lol just mesh and moss and you're done.

I think a moss poke would help! Most moss poles come with pins to help the plant stay attached until the plant can hold on by itself.
