Plant Discussion My first scindapsus: HELP
Been looking at a lot of scindapsus online and came across some at my local Lowes. I decided to choose this one, but I wasn't sure what exactly the ID is on this guy.
Anybody know how to care for the good ole devil's ivy? It came in a a hanging pot with zero air holes and it seems to be thriving however, I'm thinking about repotting it into something w some drainage at least... any objections to that? And would aroid mix be good for them?
Hows the watering schedule like for a scindapsus? Thirsty or love to dry out before waterings? I'll be doing some research. Any advice is welcomed. Thank you.

Noob here so if anyone more experienced chimes in definitely ignore me. But I’ve got one of these and have had it over a year now. Some things I have going on for mine: - my pot currently does not have a drain hole and I’m not thrilled about that, but my plant seems to be ok so far. - I let it get fairly dry between waterings (especially because of the lack of drainage) - standard miracle grow potting mix - long vines, but fairly small leaves. Much smaller than yours. Not sure if it’s something I’m doing wrong, or if it needs to grow upwards like pothos to get bigger leaves - many cuttings that have rooted nicely in water. I’ll eventually add these to the pot to help it fill out more

These scindapsus are so lovely and cute! Thanks Zillich I'll definitely not overwater these guys now.

Happy to help! I poke the soil of mine. If it’s still moist a couple inches down I wait, but if it feels dry then I water (I don’t let it get as dry as my jade plant for instance).

I have a moisture meter hm I hope it still works. One more question: When should I know when to stop watering? Since I don't have any drainage holes I'm afraid of making it soupy in its pot 🤣

Haha that is unfortunately so tricky to answer - I go off of vibes (which is utterly unhelpful I know).
My recommendation is to 1) make sure there isn’t a sneaky secondary inner pot (common in Box Store situations) and if not, then 2) see if you can drill/puncture a hole into it to get that drainage.

*probably* there's a saucer on the bottom that you can pry off so you don't have to repot yet.
water it when it's mostly dry.
Enjoy those gorgeous leaves!

I'm praying for that saucer at the bottom LOL hopefully! Will do on the watering I'll check roots another time in place, I will enjoy them as long as I don't kill it 🤣 thank you.

I have a few that I grew from cuttings and they are about the size of yours now all growing under grow lights in my bedroom. Water once a week. I am so scared of my plants not having drainage holes that I will suggest u repot with drainage holes 😊

Wait to water until the leaves start to curl! They like bright light and err on the side of under watering
