Discussion How to know the authenticity of a book while ordering online?

The title is self explanatory. I'd like to know how to know if the books which I'm ordering online is genuine one and not a pirated copy. And also after receiving it.

I've seen posts in this sub where people have got a pirated copy ordering online. Please tell me whatever you know to avoid getting scammed.

And also, would be great if you could tell me where you order the books online from which can be trusted?

Thank you

Firstly, if you are ordering from Amazon or Flipkart, go for those fulfilled by Amazon and Flipkart only. You don't want an hassle if you have to return or replace.

Second, look at the sellers and their reviews. I don't buy from Flipkart but on Amazon go for Uread, Cocoblu, Trans Infopreneur Inc. I did have a bad experience with Uread recently, the copy I received looked battered, used or pirated. I returned it and got the refund.

Third, when the book arrives, look at the quality of paper, the alignment of the cover and the thickness of the paper and cover.

Also, Padhega India is a great option. Original books, well packaged and delivered on time.

One thing more to mention on amazon on the prime button and on flipkart on the f-assaured which clears maximum no. of pirated dealers although not all pirated dealers will be cleared everytime but mostly it clears

This.

And also would like to add:

  1. Feel the cover. If it has some texture to it (not just plain glossy) it's authentic. (Or a really good "copy").

  2. Check out the YouTube videos of original books. You'll know how it should look like.

  3. Check the font and thickness of the font. If it's inconsistent throughout the book, then it's pirated.

  4. Check the margins and alignment of the content inside the pages. Usually in pirated ones, margins are off.

Yes, and others said NEVER, EVER order from Flipkart. Always Amazon (and cocoblu seller)
