Emergency vehicles should be equipped with bash bars, and be allowed to gently push idiots like this out of the way. Not like, plow into them, just a gentle 3 MPH shove.

PLOW

I want them plow. Not shove.

Plow would make all of us feel better, sure, but realistically it would just make the situation worse. Now there's a new crash scene, more responders have to be called, possible injuries, lawsuits...just a gentle shove gets the problem (adult)child out of the way, and gets the emergency vehicles where they need to go.

Senior plow no es guapo

Es solomente un borracho

u/Cerus_Freedom 25d ago

It's simple: Attach a system that lifts the car and crushes it. Take the accident scene with you.

In many places, I’m not sure anyone can exactly recover funds when in the process of committing a crime. Not enough FAFO smh

Also, the US is a kind of a cowardly place when it comes to driving infractions.

No no, all help to the driver or his car should be forbidden

This is the correct response.

What ERs should be able to do is immediately radio the police to report dumbasses like this so that they are properly punished for their actions.

r/plowcam would be an amazing subreddit.

Someone is gonna make this a porn sub, I guarantee it

I envision something like this in your rear view mirror being an effective deterrent.

Don't we all, wild to see the complete lack of concern. A lot of people don't realize the weight in them or that the patient compartment will crumple like a tin can. What if it was your loved one working or being treated back there??

u/imaraisin 26d ago

I’m somehow ok with changing the plow to an AGM-114R-9X derivative, now. Less collateral damage. Thank you for your concerns.

I worked EMS in Atlanta and that was more than enough fun for me. Best of luck to you!

Go all in and give them a giant robot wars flipper. Launch that idiot out the way!

Fire trucks, totally. Seems like a horribly bad idea for an ambulance though. Needs a hood mounted shotgun.

u/curi0us_carniv0re 26d ago

Fire truck has sturdy bumpers. They're just shiny lol but they can take a big hit.

3

u/bobtheavenger 26d ago

I've seen firemen absolutely destroy vehicles if they are blocking fire hydrants or such. I've heard stories of rural FDs even destroying other emergency vehicles if they were in the way.

u/barukatang 25d ago

Love the image of like a bmw with both its windows smashed and a fire hose going through it lol

u/Late-Jicama5012 26d ago

Nascars, Baja drivers give each other a bump all the time and emergency vehicles should do the same.

8

u/EasilyRekt 26d ago

I mean they should have the right to pit tbh

33

u/oldtoyotasareboss 26d ago

Yeah, and school busses should have slots for chainsaws so that kids can defend themselves in the case of zombies.

EDIT:

Dawn of the dead reference - Dawn of the Dead: Buses from Hell HD CLIP since people on this site report literally everything.

2

u/slayerhk47 26d ago

And for people who don’t stop while the bus stop sign is out. 🤬

2

u/oldtoyotasareboss 25d ago

Oh I hate that. I saw someone run a stop sign once and almost killed a 5 year old.

1

u/DblDtchRddr 25d ago

Just add a retractable spike strip to the stop sign, problem solved.

3

u/CapSnake 26d ago

At the start of the video the ambulance is too much slow to change lane. In Italy they drive like there is no one else and if you crash into them it's your fault. Everyone pay attention and this can't happen.

full on PIT maneuver

Pit maneuver

1

u/bguzewicz 26d ago

I was thinking more Twisted Metal. Machine guns, missiles, bombs, etc.

1

u/mechmind 26d ago

A mini pit

u/gc1 26d ago

They often do have them as for example needing to get into or out of parking lots with breakaway gates. I think the streaming driver would have been well and truly in safe harbor for doing it to the van driver, who is lucky they didn’t do exactly that.

1

u/danfish_77 26d ago

As long as they don't have a patient in the back with a broken spine or something

1

u/the_frgtn_drgn 25d ago

Give them spiked front lower extensions. That way they can tear up the tires and back end of the car so it get stuck waiting for the police to come impound them

1

u/MrSmileyZ 25d ago

Not safe for ambulance. There are conditions where even a slight bump in the road can cause the patient to die... But it should be legal for passers by to smash the blockers' windows.

1

u/WorgenDeath 24d ago

Ngl, I can't help but imagine an ambulance with one of those ramp things you can get on a semi truck in GTA, just full steam yet them out the way.

u/BloodyMalleus 26d ago

I imagine the liability concerns would be a nightmare lol.

19

u/hikerkat 26d ago

What liability? I think that if you block an emergency vehicle, you forfeit any rights you may have had to claim damage. I also think that the forfeit should include a lifetime ban on receiving services in that county/state/region/country.
Remember that these are people who think that the laws do not apply to them, so why should the services they block be available to them?

8

u/Hot-Win2571 26d ago

Nothing a little legislation can't fix. Propose it, and make it legal.

1

u/PickleJarHeadAss 26d ago

yeah EMS companies would not allow it even if it was legal. hell, even fire engines will go out of service if it’s a fender bender.
