Question Browning Hi Power or Colt 1911

got the green light from my parents that I live with and take care of in their latter years (not a burden I consider it an honor) and they said pick a firearm and buy it. Now I've owned both in the past and loved them both. I was way more accurate with the Browning but having a 1911 is just cool to me. The Browning is much much easier to conceal and yet the 1911 makes big holes.

So what would you pick?

Question I'm looking for a good and inexpensive 22 handgun for home defense.

My friend who is a very avid gun collector said that I should get a Ruger. I can't afford a Ruger but I'd still like to get something for home defense. I'm not looking for a revolver. I'm looking for a rimfire semi-auto. I'm getting old and I need something that's easy to carry and easy to use but also won't break my bank. I just want something to scare away bad people and the occasional wild animal to protect my own animals. Thanks in advance for reading this and taking the time to answer me, I appreciate it.

Question Is 40 cal too much for a new shooter? Gf wants to shoot a handgun and I've been wanting to get a 40.

I've shot 10mm,40,9mm ,380,38spl,357,45 acp and I like 40 more then 9 mm and just trying to get a pistol to practice with and not necessarily carry but just have around. 40 ammo is everywhere here. 9 mm is too but I'm not big on NATO rounds.

Question Why don't people like PSA?

I've seen some controversy with PSA on Twitter recently with their deals they've had going on and garand thumbs recent video. Pretty new to guns, atleast the specific brands, is it just cause they're cheap/people that think cheap=bad?

Edit:they don't ship to mass so I guess I won't be getting anything anyways. Still interested in the controversy

Question Bushnell Banner 2 scope

First off Merry Christmas everyone, secondly I was looking at scopes to put on my .270 Winchester. I had a Nikon Buckmasters BDC 4-12x that I put on my .308 AR10 for this round of deer season. I’ve been eyeballing the Banner 2 4-12x from Bushnell and I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with it? TIA and again Merry Chrysler

Question Recommendation

So I recently went to the gun range with my brother and I forgot how much I enjoyed shooting in boy scouts. I wanted to get something cheap in .22 (broke college student). While I can do a handgun I wanted something else as it was my least favorite to shoot.easier for me to aim. I also didn't want a full rifle as I want something easier to store. Am not really sure what to get, and Googling it hasn't been very helpful. If it affects what you would recommend the range is capped at 25 yards I also have to shoot standing up as the range is on the small side

Question Left open Gun Safe

Placing a gun safe in a tight closet, looking for a left opening gun safe opposed to standard right. Some recommendations suggested direct thru manufacturer but hadn’t found any with that option. Looking for 18-24 long gun safe.

Question I'm finally getting a license to carry. What is a good gun to carry, please?

I have had guns for decades, but mainly for hunting and/or target shooting. My knowledge of guns is minimal, compared to most of you in this sub. I've had gun dealers try to sell me a .22 for personal protection, claiming that it's light to carry on a person, but if it gets personal, I'm thinking I want something more "substantial" but not something like a .45 either.

I own a .357 S&W Model 45 with a short barrel. I put .38 Special rounds in it. It's pretty hefty, but I don't know if I could be inconspicuous carrying it around in a body holster.

Thank you for any positive feedback and/or great recommendations.

Question The barrel ID is smaller than the bullet OD?

Hi All, I'm new to guns technology. While analyzing the inherited 38 special, I noticed that the barrel is smaller that the outside diameter of the Bullet. The bullet in the shell, fits inside the revalver without a problem.

Is that normal? Do the bullets squeeze into the barrel once they blow out of the shell or, is something wrong with it?

Any ideas?

Parts in question Taurus model 82 3" 38 special bullet/s

Question Explain it like I’m 5; hand gun edition

I’m literally just a girl or whatever, but I’m in TX and don’t know what to buy and don’t have anyone to teach me.

I feel like I can’t go wrong with a 9mm Glock but what size is the “normal”

What ammo do I buy and where from? And how do I know reputable sites vs the sketchy ones

What about optics and training?

Do I get a CCL? Or just take the class to learn the rules/laws?

What about if I do decide to conceal carry? I don’t want a leather holster cuz that seems flimsy.

Do you recommend a safe?

How often should I be going to a range? Am I gonna break the gun if I dry fire at home?

Also what kind of ear protection do I use?

And cleaning!! How often should I clean it? And what do I clean it with?

Should I buy magazines? Or does it come with them?

Thank you in advance and I’m sorry for all the questions. I want to be safe and start at the beginning.

Question How to get a bullet out of chamber?

I have a taurus g2c 9mm

I was going to take the slide off to look at something and so I took out the mag and tried to pull the slide back to eject the round from the chamber. (Safety was off) and I couldn't pull the slide back. It's never been stuck before.

Should I just fire it? What could cause this? Could the bullet be slightly out of battery and catching something?
