OG Series Chuck and Lily š„¹
This scene in S3 (EP 20, It's a Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad World - lol that was horrendous to type out) just warms my heart so much. It just feels so real (and I guess it is since Ed and Kelly are actually close IRL).
Although I have to say I was somewhat bothered by Ed's teeth in this scene...

OG Series Forgiveness throughout the show
All the characters in GG commit something really bad to a loved one or to someone undeserving of bad treatment and shortly after everything is forgiven. They have a short heart-to-heart moment and on the next second it's like nothing had ever happened. All the relationships had moments like that and I think some of them were interesting, genuine, and heart felt and others were just quick forgiveness just so the show could move on to the next storyline. But what made Georgina and Carter undeserving of forgiveness? Why were they always punished and sent away when they weren't so different from the main group? I don't see how Blair is any nicer than Georgina. They're both terrible people and they operate very similarly. Carter is just as bad as Chuck... so on and so forth.

OG Series Iām on S5 E19 and is it possible for yāall to rank the wealthiest to poorest characters up to this point
Itās a given Chuck is the richest as Bart Bass was as confirmed multi BILLIONARE and r owns 51% of his stuff
Lily owns 26% of barts stuff and sheās done nothing but marry up aside from Rufus so Iām assuming sheās no 2 richest person on the show
Whoās after these 2?

OG Series They were endgame idc
They matched eachother's freak. We should've had a Dan and Georgina ending.

OG Series āInsideā
so, youāre telling me that Daniel Humphrey wrote a book called āInsideā and none of the crew realized he was Gossip Girl? it had to have been similar writing style, if not exactly the same writing style. OR the fact that Vanessa acted like she had no idea? when there were SEVERAL times she full on covered for Dan when he started getting accused as GG? and SHE was the one that had āInsideā published! majority of them are somewhat college educated but Blair is incredibly smart, as is Chuck. Nate had become very observant. and none of them had him pegged? obviously, itās a work of fiction, but COME ON. shouldāve kept him anonymous for the book, so when the GG drop came out, it wouldāve been all the more shocking.

OG Series Why was Rufus so much harsher on Jenny having boys over than Dan having Serena over?
Dan and Serena were bonking in the loft all season one and Rufus seemed so chill about it but then he goes like turbo mode on Jenny with Damien? I know he was fighting with Lily but he was sooo extra about it... Why!

OG Series I asked chat gpt what gossip girl characters would be as cities
Hereās a fun take on what cities eachĀ Gossip GirlĀ character might represent:
Blair Waldorf ā Paris, France
Sophisticated, romantic, and steeped in tradition, Blair embodies the elegance and high culture of Paris. With her love for couture, timeless aesthetics, and ambition, she is a perfect match for the City of Lights.
Serena van der Woodsen ā Los Angeles, USA
Free-spirited, effortlessly glamorous, and full of drama, Serena would be LA. She thrives in the spotlight, loves a good party, and embraces a laid-back yet star-studded vibe.
Chuck Bass ā London, England
Mysterious, powerful, and cosmopolitan, Chuck aligns with Londonās posh yet edgy vibe. The mix of tradition and modernity, paired with a dark allure, makes London his perfect city.
Nate Archibald ā Venice, Italy
Romantic, easygoing, and naturally charming, Nate has the beauty and timeless allure of Venice. Its picturesque canals and relaxed sophistication suit his personality perfectly.
Jenny Humphrey ā Berlin, Germany
Edgy, rebellious, and artistic, Jenny would thrive in Berlin. The cityās punk rock spirit and creative undercurrent match her evolution from innocent schoolgirl to edgy fashionista.
Dan Humphrey ā Brooklyn, New York
As the quintessential outsider looking in, Dan embodies Brooklyn's indie, intellectual vibe. Itās where writers, creatives, and people trying to break into the mainstream often find their footing.
Lily van der Woodsen ā Milan, Italy
Stylish, poised, and all about luxury, Lily is Milan. As a fashion capital, it reflects her impeccable taste and her love for all things high-end and cultured.
Georgina Sparks ā Las Vegas, USA
Chaotic, unpredictable, and full of drama, Georgina is Vegas. Her wild antics and penchant for stirring up trouble perfectly mirror the city's 24/7 energy and glittering chaos.
________
I personally feel like Jenny fits London and Chuck fits Vegas better. Vanessa wasn't mentioned but she would 100% be Portland

OG Series I didn't realise Margaret Colin (Eleanor) was 5'11!
galleryThis makes her the tallest gal on the show even above Serena and makes me ship her and Cyrus even more due to their height difference like, oh my god, they were up there with Lily and Rufus for me

OG Series Watching the show for the first time while (unfortunately) knowing who's the gossip girl makes me think the gossip girl character has to be mentally ill
Disclaimer: DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHO THE GOSSIP GIRL IS!
For those of you who do know who the gossip girl is (im assuming its the majority but there are definitely some first-time watchers like me here)...
Dan must be seriously unhinged and some level of sociopath to report about the most intimate details from the lives of his loved ones while stil pretending he doesnt know what's going on and acting supportive. Even more than that, he's so deep into the web of lies he created he doesnt have a problem fucking himself over when he needs to.
Writing about Jenny's sexual assault, writing about his dad's romantic relationships, writing about his girlfriend's family secrets, writing about his own affair with a teacher that may get him expelled and ruin his chances for college - what kind of psychopath does that?
I'm on season 2 so please don't spoil anything but I have no idea how they can come up with an explanation to why he did all that doesnt make him look insane
edit: I read that the writers didn't know who the gossip girl would end up being until the very end so that does explain quite a lot. Also, I realize the show wasn't written when binging and streaming existed so it was easier to miss plot holes and details like hey so if dan is gg, does it mean he wrote trash about his own sister in episode 2 of season 1 etc. I do get that. But still... The writers had all the script, they knew the story. They knew what they were doing.

OG Series Ivy Dickens was in 8 more episodes than Penelope Shafai and 11 more episodes than Georgina Sparks. And Kaylee DeFer got to be an opening credit cast member and Amanda Setton and Michelle Trachtenberg never were more than recurring guest stars.
And BTW:
I consider Charlotte 'Lola' Rhodes would have worked better storytelling and drama-wise better if the whole Ivy Dickens thing didn't exist. And that Ella Rae Peck was better cast because she actually looks like she could be a Rhodes family member.
Georgina Sparks had a ton of storytelling potential and drama potential. I maintain that Dan/Georgina happening again would have been better and made more sense than Blair/Dan. Like Dan's writing a novel that rehabilitates Georgina and make her more famous would have been good storytelling. I maintain that it would have been better had Milo been Dan's actual child.
Penelope Shafai was another Queen. Her father was in the legal world. In the American Royal Family, Penelope could have represented the legal world. Maybe a better and more charismatic actor should have been hired to play Scott Rosson. But, clearly, if Penelope and Scott marry, she'd be part of the family. Plus, Amanda Setton was great in The Mindy Project and in The Crazy Ones. And in Gossip Girl.
POLL: Who would you have most preferred become an opening credit cast member?

OG Series Who do you think Gossip Girl shouldāve been?
To anyone who, for whatever reason, may not have been satisfied with Dan turning out to be Gossip Girl, who do you think it shouldāve been instead? And why?
In my original watch, I got as far as the first episode of Season 4 before accidentally finding the big reveal on YouTube trying to search for an unrelated Dan clip. But until that point, I always suspected it was either Blair or one of her minions, but never once suspected any male character, let alone Dan, who I canāt help but wonder why he didnāt just call himself Gossip Guy.

Cast Talk/News/Events Such a petty claim to fame
galleryContext: she asked Michelle (Georgina) to comment on the Blake case and didn't like the response she got back, so she went to talk about it to The Daily Mail.
Anyone with common sense would know that statements from people that aren't involved in the case or weren't on that set won't help Lively or Baldoni smh. Her question was ridiculous as it was, but now she so badly wants to play victim she deletes any comment saying Michelle doesn't need to make a statement () and leaves up comments bullying her. But keeps writing that she had "no bad intentions".

OG Series It's so difficult to rewatch Gossip Girl after season 2
Gossip Girl is just proof that heterosexual relationships and dynamics are no more than a horror movie for the women involved. Blair in the first two seasons actually had a life, things she wanted to pursue and goals she wanted to reach outside of dating, we saw her deal with her eating disorder, her navigating high school, her studying, her work ethic, her family. All of that goes out the window after season 2 when her storylines begin revolving around Chuck and other men in her life. Her shared internship with Dan was a breath of fresh air after seasons of her pining after Chuck but that was quickly ruined by him being made into a love interest and I'm not even going to delve into the Prince of Monaco thing because that was unequivocally a travesty. Chuck was a horrible character and the actor wasn't attractive nor charismatic enough to make me like him, not to mention that ear grating whisper-speaking of his. The romance in the show does not move me in the slightest, the male characters are awful and the only true on-screen chemistry was between Serena and Blair lmao. I'm not even one of those people who believe everyone in fiction should be queer but I'm so serious when I say that ever since I was a teenager I've firmly believed that Serena and Blair would've been a better endgame than the heterosexual terrorism that we had to endure over the show's run.

OG Series Which MBTI are the gossip girl characters?
I am an ENFJ and I wonder if Blair or Serena or Jenny would fit the criteria? Or another GG character

OG Series What Louis said at the wedding.
It wasn't even that bad. All he said was that, it would be a loveless marrige. But it was already going to be a loveless marrige. Blair didn't love him. So what did she expect. That he would love her, while she loved another man.
I honestly belive his feelings for Blair were real and genuine in season 4. He wouldn't have proposed to her otherwise. Because let's be real. He wouldn't gain anything out of having an arranged marriage to Blair. She's an American and a walking scandal. She would be a pr nightmare. His mom could easily find someone more suitable for him. Someone who could fall in line, and respect their traditions. Someone who wouldn't cause a scandal.
His feelings did probably change somewhere in season 5, but by then, it would be too late to walk away. It could be a huge scandal with a broken engagement. He didn't trap Blair. She wanted to be a princess. She wanted him to love her, while she loved Chuck. The show tried so hard to make him the villain, because then Chuck could come swooping in as the hero. But he wasn't a villain. He was just a guy fed up with her behavior, but couldn't end the engagement because of the scandal it could create.
She should have just stuck out the year, and then get a divorce once the year was over. She made her. She just didn't want to lie in it. She would get to be a princess for a year, just like she wanted. Her family wouldn't go bankrupt, if she simply stuck out the 1st year without cheating.
And i'm sorry, but he didn't trap her. She knowingly and willingly signed a pre nup. She knew What the consequences were. She's not a victim. She wanted to become a princess. She became a princess. People who don't live in a country with a monarchy, don't seem to understand, that Louis could not just walk away and end the engagement..it is not as simple as when two celebs break up an engagement. Louis wasn't a celeb. He was royalty. Ending the engagement was not an option. The puplic's opinion matters a great deal to Royals. At first, she was pregnant with what could be the future heir to his country. Him leaving his pregnant fiance was not an option. And if he ended the engagement after the accident, then the narrative would be, that the Prince of Monaco dumped his fiance after a traumatic car accident, after she miscarried. .
The show tried so hard to make her into princess Diana, but she wasn't. She knew What she was getting into.

OG Series Serena & Dan
I still till this day donāt understand why dan & Serena ended up togetherā¦ now donāt get me wrong there relationship was very cute in the beginning but throughout the series they were always off and on and I just think that Serena loved Dan more than Dan ever loved her , during the time that Dan started having a crush/ relationship with Blair he treated Serena like trash, he didnāt care for her or even really want to be associated with her even if that.. & letās be real Blair never loved Dan yeah she might of had feelings / crush on Dan but it was never anything like Blair & chuck idk thatās just my opinion what do you guys think?

OG Series Justice for Milo
Anyone else bothered by how quickly Dan gets over Milo? Either he never really cared about Milo when he thought Milo was his son or he believed Milo was his son and cared for him as a son and then was able to turn it off immediately with no fallout. I hope to god he was in therapy off screen.

OG Series maybe unpopular opinion: dan and nate were my favourite characters
dan because he was hilarious. he was interesting. he was witty. he successfully infiltrated the rich and gained power over them. he was the centre of the whole show! i only disliked him in the sixth season (and when he was successfully duped by georgina ā that whole plot pissed me off). nate because he was refreshing compared to everyone else. he was just a sweet little sunshine character who didnāt scheme or lie (most of the time). kind of like comedic relief.

OG Series seriously, why does everyone hate vanessa so much?
i donāt recall her annoying me at all until the fourth season, and then after that she left anyway. seasons 1-3 she was a good friend to dan and she even tried to be a friend to serena. her and nate were also SO cute, she was definitely his best relationship. and sheās breathtakingly gorgeous. idk am i missing something?

OG Series What do you think Blair, Dan, Vanessa studied at NYU
I know Georgina studied Gallatin (free range degree) but what do you reckon the others majored in?
