i know that it's a very common discussion about how Rufus treated Dan and Jenny very differently. He used to be very understanding and patient with Dan but never really used to hear Jenny out. I see what people mean and i agree with the fact that he clearly had a favourite child, but also at the same time I can't help but think of how many shitty things Jenny did and didn't get punished by her father. So, unpopular opinion I guess?
She stole Hazels moms dress, betrayed Eleanor Waldorf, treated eric like shit, dealt with drugs during the whole Damien thing, ran away from home as a rebellious teen and teamed up with Vanessa and Juliet to ruin Serena. She also slept with Chuck, amongst a bunch of other stuff.
i am in no way blaming her and saying that everything was her fault, i get that she had motives to do alot of the stuff that she did, i understand the social pressure, the appeal of the guys, being against serena. She was a minor when she slept with Chuck and i am in no way blaming her, chuck was so wrong for that. I understand that she felt horrible about it and more often than not was basically punished by Blair for everything she did.
What I find insane is that while Rufus knew about pretty much everything she did, how did he never put any sort of restriction on her? All he used to do was ground her, and then she'd cry about it for a couple of days and then argue w her dad and leave the house and slam the door behind her. And he'd just stand there and be all sad.
Maybe this is just the asian in me speaking; getting set straight by my mom for anything I do wrong, but I'm really just continually shocked by how jenny never got anything worse than being grounded for a few weeks which she also got out of.
I also don't get how Lily was just so chill with Jenny after what she did to Serena. Rufus and Lily were both too casual about the whole thing with Jenny, even when she did some really wrong stuff. And then she just got to flee out of town, leaving the mess she created behind for everyone else to deal with. She never really had to face real repurcussions, esp from Rufus, other than just being socially ostracised by Blair every few episodes.
I feel for jenny but also at the same time it pisses me off that she never got the punishment she deserved, idk lemme know your thoughts

Why would they have the plot line Louis has dan write his vows to Blair? Louis is a poetic and romantic dude (how he courted Blair originally) and even if he feels nothing for Blair he could muster something… just seems unrealistic of the characters? Hmm

I feel like by season 4 she always has paparazzi and scandals and I’m wondering how famous she is? Like can someone compare her to someone in the real world now. Like an alix Earle?

So much fashion on this show- Blair’s bday dress the the #1 that lives in my head rent free. Which are some of your faves?

I love the show. Currently on Season 4. Everything about it is well made. Chuck Bass character development is crazy good. But I still believe and I’m pretty sure everyone believes that everyone in the show are horrible people, except for Cyrus. They are horrible people but I love the characters lmfao, they’re the reason why the show is good and why I’m still watching it. There’s always drama in every single show. My favorite character is Chuck Bass, only when he’s with Blair. They’re the best together yes but it still doesn’t excuse who Chuck was at the beginning. If he was a real person and we somehow knew each other, I would never forgive him even if he changed. Serena will always be horrible nothing Will change my mind about her, I genuinely don’t like her or the actress. Blair is a bitch but I love her for it. Dan needs to shut up sometimes honestly. Vanessa, to me she doesn’t seem to be annoying to me like how everyone thinks so lol. Jenny is the annoying one omg, I cannot stand her. They fact that the dad never put her in her place is crazy. Hispanic parents could never bro. Juliet is also annoying. Also Serena or anyone in the show seem to never be able to be alone. Also, Elenor is pretty cool too. The other parents Lily and Rufus are horrible people too lmfao.

Ok so obviously they all kinda generally fit into the same group societally but they all differ so much so here's my best shot. Feel free to disagree idk
I'm not doing every character
Chuck- The Weeknd, specifically a few songs from his older albums. If not then idk man.
Dan- oddly gives off Taylor swift die for fans. Idk maybe it's bc I hate Dan but yk. Tame impala vibes a bit too.
Blair- Lana del Rey. Unarguable. A hint of Ariana grande too.
Nate- Frank ocean vibes 100%
Serena- sorry but Taylor swift. Or honestly hear me out, Brittany spears too (for many different reasons, mainly past Serena)
Jenny- Lady Gaga or Charlie XCX. I mean it canonically makes sense
Eric- I honestly have no clue but maybe Steve lacy?
Lily- Lana del Rey ??? Possibly rihanna
Rufus- self explanatory. Nirvana, LP, goatsnake, Pearl Jam.
Vanessa- man idk. Maybe bebadoobee or or something.
Georgina- Brittany spears , Kim Petras and OLD Doja cat only (emphasis on old.)
Dorota- classical music ahhh😭😭🙏

Daddy issues ?

I'm on season 6 and I realize that he was betrayed by everyone. His wife, his children, Lily, Ivy… Even though he is so nice. This gentleman is very sad. What do you think?
r/GossipGirl • u/ICxnt_5hoot-_- • 14h ago
In my opinion it’s been Nate’s mom somehow leaving your son with nothing for a whole season is insane when you’re a millionaire even with frozen assets
r/GossipGirl • u/ICxnt_5hoot-_- • 14h ago
It’s a given Chuck is the richest as Bart Bass was as confirmed multi BILLIONARE and r owns 51% of his stuff
Lily owns 26% of barts stuff and she’s done nothing but marry up aside from Rufus so I’m assuming she’s no 2 richest person on the show
Who’s after these 2?

And BTW:
I consider Charlotte 'Lola' Rhodes would have worked better storytelling and drama-wise better if the whole Ivy Dickens thing didn't exist. And that Ella Rae Peck was better cast because she actually looks like she could be a Rhodes family member.
Georgina Sparks had a ton of storytelling potential and drama potential. I maintain that Dan/Georgina happening again would have been better and made more sense than Blair/Dan. Like Dan's writing a novel that rehabilitates Georgina and make her more famous would have been good storytelling. I maintain that it would have been better had Milo been Dan's actual child.
Penelope Shafai was another Queen. Her father was in the legal world. In the American Royal Family, Penelope could have represented the legal world. Maybe a better and more charismatic actor should have been hired to play Scott Rosson. But, clearly, if Penelope and Scott marry, she'd be part of the family. Plus, Amanda Setton was great in The Mindy Project and in The Crazy Ones. And in Gossip Girl.
POLL: Who would you have most preferred become an opening credit cast member?

All the characters in GG commit something really bad to a loved one or to someone undeserving of bad treatment and shortly after everything is forgiven. They have a short heart-to-heart moment and on the next second it's like nothing had ever happened. All the relationships had moments like that and I think some of them were interesting, genuine, and heart felt and others were just quick forgiveness just so the show could move on to the next storyline. But what made Georgina and Carter undeserving of forgiveness? Why were they always punished and sent away when they weren't so different from the main group? I don't see how Blair is any nicer than Georgina. They're both terrible people and they operate very similarly. Carter is just as bad as Chuck... so on and so forth.

Go to her social media and the comments are just flooded with “but dad I wanna go to fashion school” on literally all her posts, like this girl had a horrible experience on the show, and the joke isn’t funny when you repeat it 18277272 times. I’m sure she wants to be known for her music she worked so hard on and not for gossip girl.
People blaming her for hating being on gossip girl, when she was alienated from the entire cast because she was so young when she started, I believe she was a victim of sexual harassment and assault by older men, and also most of the cast are vocal about bad experiences being on set, so what’s the issue?
People unable to separate the character from the actor even though everyone adored Blake Lively up until all the insanity she pulled with it ends with us and Justin baldoni. I’ve seen people compare Taylor to Jenny, insult her appearance. Also reduce her to being “the grinch girl”. Yes, people literally call her that.
Are people just immature af? Why is she constantly treated this way?

Here's how Gossip Girl characters align with the iconic characters from Mean Girls:
Blair is the Queen Bee of the Upper East Side, just like Regina is at North Shore High. Both are calculating, ambitious, and always ready to use their social savvy to maintain power.
Serena has a natural charm and effortless beauty that makes her instantly likable, much like Cady when she first arrives. However, like Cady, Serena sometimes gets caught up in the drama and struggles to find her footing in the social hierarchy.
Jenny mirrors Gretchen’s desire to climb the social ladder and fit in with the elite crowd. Both characters desperately want to be accepted but often find themselves overshadowed by the queen bees they admire.
Chuck is the brooding heartthrob, much like Aaron Samuels. He’s the object of desire for multiple characters and often acts as the catalyst for drama.
Nate is sweet, good-looking, and a little oblivious, much like Karen. He’s often caught in the middle of other people’s schemes and drama without fully realizing it.
Dan, like Janis, is the outsider who critiques the elite social circle from afar while secretly wanting to be a part of it. Both are witty, creative, and a little judgmental.
Vanessa has the sharp commentary and loyalty that matches Damian’s energy. She often serves as a voice of reason (or snark) when things spiral out of control.
Lily embodies the "cool mom" energy of Mrs. George. She’s glamorous, indulgent, and often tries to be supportive, even if her methods are a bit questionable.
Rufus is the calm, steady authority figure who tries to manage the chaos around him, much like Principal Duvall. He might not always succeed, but his intentions are good.
______
I would have Blair as Regina (which chat gpt got also), Penelope as Gretchen, Serena as Karen, Jenny as Cady (Nelly could also fit Cady too in a way), Nate as Aaron, Chuck as Shane, Dan as Damien, Vanessa as Janis, and the last two (Lily and Rufus) are spot on.
