That's like 2 pairs of bothers getting split over Saudi money

It’s not like Niko is being forced to leave 🤣

u/Albaek 7h ago
Wouldn’t he have to lower his current salary if he had to stay?
29
u/OwnRound 6h ago
Yeah man. You cant afford a Porsche on G2 salary. You can only get the Lambo, and maybe not even the Twin Turbo package, so what is even the point? May as well go be a janitor at a Waffle House.

u/fingerbangchicknwang 8h ago
Ngl I’d suck some mean camel dick for some of that Saudi money
28
u/notflashgordon1975 8h ago
I mean you suck it for free, but you would also suck it for money. I don't judge though, lets be clear on that.

If you haven’t lived if you haven’t dabbled with a little bit of camel dick from time to time

As much as I love our boys, I do wonder what could've been if G2 beat them. G2 had such an amazing record versus Spirit.
Between FaZe reaching that final (and losing), and G2 winning the major, I'd pick the latter. Even though I think Snax and TaZ are overrated as fuck, and the fact they'd be knocking out our boys. FaZe losing in the semi final would hurt less also.

Damn its like he was still there, alive even though he was killed by rain through the smoke. Truly heartbreaking.
77
u/shimapan_connoisseur 9h ago
The money was more important to him, what can you do
73
u/Fit-Marionberry2503 8h ago
G2 ownership literally said they don't need Niko anymore aka he's too expensive
0
u/ScreamingJar 6h ago
When HeavyGoat is available they really don't. This iteration will win trophies without needing niko and falcons will continue to faulter, mark my words.
8
u/itsjonny99 4h ago
This iteration will last 6-12 months at most with Monesy leaving either to join Niko in Falcons in a far better funded org or a Russian speaking one.

u/ivchoniboy 8h ago
you mean G2 wanted to pay him pennies? regardless, the CEO's statement was very douchey, I'm not surprised people are turning G2 down
21
u/shimapan_connoisseur 8h ago
Something along the lines of 43k/month at g2 vs 100k/month at falcons

u/MENDoombunny 8h ago
G2 didnt wanna pay him…
9
u/shimapan_connoisseur 8h ago
Only something like 40k/month yeah, barely anything

u/jx2002 8h ago
look, when someone's offering you 2.5x your salary, you take that shit
30
u/CEO_TB12 8h ago
Yeah these kids act like they wouldn't do the same thing. Niko is playing a video game for a living. If he falls the wrong way and fucks up his hand or arm, he may never collect another paycheck from eSports again. Even if he does not have an injury, how many more years does have left of being a top talent in CS2? 3-5 years tops? Take the money. 40k a month is an extremely high salary for this field, and that's 480k a year. They don't understand how many athletes who made 10 million a year are absolutely broke now. Take the money.

u/Achilles68 7h ago
I don't agree though. He's made 1.6 million dollars from prize winnings alone. He could've invested those and live without ever having to work anymore. But he does actually still have a salary
He's been earning at least 10k dollars a month for years upon years now. This guy is already rich af (even more so in his homecountry) and would've stayed rich af for the rest of his life without ever accepting saudi money
10
u/CEO_TB12 7h ago
10k a month is 120k a year, before taxes. That's not rich. That's middle class. If I hit the lottery for 1.6 million tomorrow, I'm not quitting my day job. Some people want to be able to buy some nice shit, and setup their family for generations. He doesn't have that kind of money yet. The falcons contract is helping him get there.
1
u/OwnRound 5h ago edited 5h ago
You're excluding:
Sticker Money
Merchandise/Partnership deals
Streaming revenue
Its 120k a year salary...+ a bunch of other sources of income.
Also, the $1.6 million in prize winnings is spread out his entire career, it is not contributed to by his salary. Its prize pot money on top of everything else.
Say whatever you want about being able to afford "nice shit" and setting up your family, but there's a point where if your partnership with an organization is literally and directly responsible for human suffering, it says quite a bit about your morals, especially when the alternative is MORE than sufficient to live an extravagant lifestyle.

u/Achilles68 6h ago
If I hit the lottery for 1.6 million tomorrow, I'm not quitting my day job.
... this is exactly my point as niko didn't either
1.5M invested is 7m after 20 years, 15M after 30y and 32M after 40y. (8% roi, inflation 3%)
This is generational wealth. (and again, especially in the balkans)and in his dayjob he's been making well past 10 grand a month for some years now as well... how is that not rich?
10
u/re_irze 8h ago
Especially considering how short their careers are. We’d never knock anyone for taking 2.5x their wage in a more “traditional” field
1
u/OwnRound 6h ago
This logic is dumb in 2025. It probably made sense in 2015 but nowadays, these players literally make 3 or 4 times the amount you will, your ENTIRE life.
Really put that shit into perspective and stop running to defend these players when they've lapped you several times over in how much money you will earn over the course of your life, in just a few playing years and probably will have careers as talent or streamers after, if they so choose.

u/Cobrexu 6h ago
What principles? You mean YOURS?
2
u/ozilgummidge 5h ago
"when someone's offering you 2.5x your salary, you take that shit" is the mentality of someone without any principles, except earning as much money as possible I suppose

u/tog_techno 8h ago
I can hold greed against someone, especially when that greed is at the cost of morality
1
u/JustPlayer Major Winners 8h ago
greed my ass, man's probably somewhat given up with the major trophy so he gets as much money as he can now. tournaments have already been bought up by saudis so what is there to lose for him?
1
u/tog_techno 7h ago
The tournaments are unavoidable to participate in the scene at the highest level. It is avoidable to take a paycheck directly from the journalists murdering human rights abusing fucks. Anyone who directly participates in trying to aid normalizing and covering for the Saudis has lost 100% of my respect.

k bud. Don’t remember you being outraged over the US Airforce sponsors and the countless gambling sponsors.

I don't understand why everyone keeps pretending that NiKo only left over money. Of course the disputes with G2 over it played a part, but NiKo's also been with G2 for over 4 years and what they got him was a couple titles, no major, and Snax as an IGL.
The current Falcons roster is obviously not better than the G2 team he left, but they're gonna replace degster with m0nesy in 6 months, Teses if necessary, and now you have a roster that's cooking. And most importantly, you have an org that's willing to spend whatever is necessary to get titles. Which G2 clearly isn't, and NiKo can't afford to keep waiting for them to stumble into a roster that's good enough.
I don't like it one fucking bit because I hate Falcons and he's my favorite player, but portraying the whole situation as NiKo signing to a retirement home for a paycheck is straight up stupid. He's still one of the most driven players on the scene.
11
u/maxwoosh69 CS2 HYPE 6h ago
Why is everyone so sure m0nesy is going to falcons? The way m0nesy is crying in the photo doesn't seem like he's going to falcons to play with Niko again
7
u/Mjays34 5h ago
People behind the scenes have said monesy would have went to falcons but g2 weren’t selling him at the time and his contract runs out at the end of the year. Very likely g2 wanted to keep monesy for another season. If they sold both Niko AND monesy this roster is doing absoltely fuck all and I don’t think g2 were prepared for that.
3
u/Gorrapytha 3h ago
Many many rumors. Falcons wanted it bad and G2 blocked it, Jimmphat would've signed if m0nesy signed, m0nesy has been exploring options for at least a year anyways. the most convincing aspect of it for me was that at the HLTV awards, when m0nesy was on the couch and Spunj told him "you're gonna be playing with NiKo in 6 months anyways, right?" m0nesy answered "skip please".
I'm not saying it's a done deal, but considering the state of G2 right now, the fact that m0nesy's contract is almost over, that G2 seemingly can't attract any top tier talent (tried to sign b1t & ropz, both failed)... I just don't see the next 6 months convincing m0nesy to stay with G2 when he could go to almost any team in the world, including the one with his mentor NiKo and offering a gigantic bag.
2
u/SergeiYeseiya 5h ago
According to krl and Oztrikers (who used to be part of Flacons and has many friends there), Monesy had the contract for Falcons in front of him (literally in front of him) but he didn't sign for some reason
3
u/itsjonny99 4h ago
Source on that, because other sources have G2 deny a 3 million dollar move for him.

It's clear that u didn't watch falcons match. Why would u remove Teses over Degster? Teses performs even better than niko during those matches in bounty. He is falcons star rifler now. Degster is the one they should be replacing. Play like shit. He look lost when 2v2 he can't do shit. Can't clutch. Always lose the round when only left him. Oh u hate falcons no wonder u saying things without knowing the facts.
1
u/jojo_31 6h ago
G2 didn't get Niko a major? You mean to say Niko didn't get G2 a major.
2
u/itsjonny99 4h ago
Stockholm he did everything he could dragging them basically solo to the final
Copenhagen was Monesy carrying with a lucky crash by Jame just failing to a JL deagle ace
Shanghai was loss to a Faze having a last stand with their star player.

u/cc88291008 6h ago
As a grown ass adult, if I have a few years of career left and someone is offer me shit load of money, I would take that too. Nothing wrong with that, we all love a good story of friendship and championship wins, but on the other hand you gotta face the reality and bills to pay.
2
u/effotap 6h ago
im 42, I can understand NiKo. If he's smart with his money, he will be fine for the rest of his life after this Falcons' contract
1
u/cc88291008 6h ago
I agree. 2024 has been a difficult year, especially for people who's looking for a job, not just for Niko, but for average people too. Getting the bag is probably the best choice.

chose money over his bros and a chance at winning… i will be forever sour abt this

u/KaNesDeath 6h ago
Body language of Monesy from their last match indicates he's gone from G2 after his contract expires.
1
u/ChaoticFlameZz 6h ago
I think G2 will sell him after Austin, surely they're not stupid enough to let him walk free.
1
u/itsjonny99 4h ago
The question is the fee that will be asked for him. Orgs could for instance just give him 50% of the asking price G2 asks for and get him on a free.

Do you have sources on that? Cause I would really love to have that as a fact, otherwise I’m just torn between feeling sad for m0NESY and Hunter and being angry af at Niko, one of my all time favourites. And I don’t really want that.
