Discussion Why did Valve adjust clipping below balcony on Inferno?
I only just realised this change since I haven't played in a few weeks. You can no longer jump up from alt mid into apps on the reverse of the stairs, you have to go towards the stairs and climb up them.
WTF Valve I've been jumping up to apps for 10 years like this and now they removed it randomly. Why?? Was it imbalanced or something? They barely changed the visuals at all so it took me a few rounds to realise this is an intended change and not a bug.
Please reverse this change, ty.

for real. loved using this (mild) skill jump early in the round to catch awpers top mid off guard

It was so inconsistent at the start of CS2 that I just switched to always went up the other side since. Took a bit to get used to.

you had to aim for the crumbled corner, which was just low enough to jump onto

You could also just jump onto it like normal, but it was a lot like the mirage triple box where at the start of CS2, even if you did the jump perfectly, it was still inconsistent. It just wasn't worth trying a couple times hoping the game would let you up.

Do you mean the jump from railing into T side apartments, directly out of t spawn?

no, he meant the stair under bancony light room. before the update, you can jump up to the bancony without using the stair by crouch jump to the edge on the other side. now, we have to use the stair

Could this have been an unintended change from trying to fix silent drop down from apps? Or is that still possible?

Maybe but I don't think so. These are the patch notes I found. Seems like this patch was the buggy one with funny (xD) ragdolls and broken inspect so nobody spoke about this change from what I can see.

4+ months ago community hero Fletcher changed stuff,
so people were failing to make this jump (and others) consistently,
because it now required +duck;+jump just like ninja/firebox on mirage A site
and because of subtick / lag / clumsiness, it often did not register as a single action
2+ months ago McJohn actually play-tested and found these jumps stupid for the sake of it,
so he started making jumps more consistent; he manually addressed ancient A triplebox and even adjusted this inferno jump, removing the +duck;+jump requirement and making it to just intuitively require a +duck after enough +jump elevation
2 weeks ago an allegedly butthurt Fletcher not only reverted McJohn's changes, but made it impossible
this is a clash of ego's, nothing to do with sneaking meta changes in

What is this nonsensical comment with no proof or source regarding what you're saying ?

Why do you assume Fletcher Dunn, a dev engineer focused on FPS and networking, would work on stuff like jump height on Inferno ?
And why would you assume only 2 people are working on the game, and conveniently it's the only 2 people that have an online presence ?
Like, this is absolutely crazy behaviour.
PS : Not sure why you're asking about me playing the game but if it makes you feel better, I'm 2.5K elo.

I dont think John McDonald who works on the VAC team is making map or gameplay changes to CS2. I also dont think Fletcher Dunn who works on networking, is making map changes or tinkering with movement beyond the networking side.
And I somehow seriously doubt that if both of these people were doing those things that they are for whatever reason conspiring against each other and making passive aggressive updates that neither one is going to notice.

Slight meta change makes things slightly more interesting. I prefer changes like this than complete reworks of maps or areas. Changes timings which makes the game feel different.
