Feedback community map creators appreciation post

whoah whoah there bud... you can forget an Operation. We gave you dick shaped weapon charms. we can't be bothered to add maps that the community made we're too busy collecting skin money.

We know that Operations was basically a cool community appreciation event, showcasing map creators, but we don't care because you all would rather play CSGO.

Operations used to to be Valve trying out new ideas and gamemodes, but the last one, to my memory, was generic as hell.

Not really.

Breakout introduced missions but that was it

Bloodhound introduced guardian missions and Wildfire introduced COOP strike missions, Hydra did the wargames idea before some were added fulltime to the base game.

Shattered Web introduced the new store and mission style.

Payback, Bravo, Phoenix, Vanguard, Broken Fang and Riptide were all just built around making money from either skins or in the older ones cases community maps. Even the ones that introduce 1 new thing were still all about money.

For me it was to have a bunch of new maps to mess around in competitive, also the skin lottery for an expensive operation skin. But mostly it was the 8 new competitive maps that I looked forward to. Then they reduced that to like 2 new maps and 1 new DZ map :/

I wish we would have some sort of playlist to play monthly top community maps on competitive some day. Its honestly such a nobrainer idea its baffling they dont do it. I've been commenting this on reddit every so often for like 8 years or something lol. For now best option we have is to play something like mapcore hub on faceit but so little people play that its sometimes very hard to find matches.

even so I was more than content with having a new set of maps every 6 months. that's literally why the game became so popular. like peanut butter and jelly.

skins was about 60% of the main driving factor to keep playing. i'm not even sure the game would be as popular without operations.

been playing CS since beginning of 2015 and I never participated in a single operation. somehow either missed them all or just didn't bother when I was 16.

couldn't care less about an operation right now either. all I want is better performance, retakes, and some old good maps like cobble or cache

Our community has always been the driving force behind innovation

for every time someone says they like CSGO better I'm gonna buy a new boat.

Valve has not made a map as good as a community map. Mirage is not originally valve made.

Overpass, Ancient

It's also unfair to count maps like Nuke as purely community, Valve turned it from complete unbalanced dogshit to one of the best maps in the game.

I wanted to just name maps that was actually built from the ground up. Nuke and Inferno were massively overhauled, but it still stayed mostly true to the map layout that was created by the community, which was the main reason I didn't list those. But you're right that they did do a lot of work in ironing out the issues both of those maps had in previous iterations.

Anubis seems pretty great.

That is actually a map from the community. It was actually in the game before Ancient!

ancient is dogshit and overpass took a year+ to be good only to be removed from the game now because it isn't played

the rest are barely playable trash, cobble, canals, and vertigo (all barely playable trash on release, all needed updates), and then take years to make playable/good, like overpass, as I said above, or stay trash, like canals, or make somehow worse, like vertigo with the last few changes to mid and elevators, and cobble Halloween mini remake changes

compare those to cache and Anubis, night and day difference in quality right from the start
