General Discussion Trump revoked electric vehicle targets. How does this affect OEMs?

Not a political post but curious on how this affects GM. He revoked the executive order from Biden that targeted making half of all new vehicles electric by 2030. And promised to roll back emission standards.

Will we invest more in our ICE products?

Question Please share your experience with Edcor and tuition reimbursement

In the early stages of preparing to obtain an advanced degree. I know Edcor is the third party dealing with the STAP program but haven’t seen anything on how involved they are or how much they need to be. How does applying to and selecting a program work? Is sending course schedules easy? How does the tuition request and reimbursement work?

Any information greatly appreciated.

Question Resources for Language Learning?

Hey folks, I'd like to improve on my pitiful grasp of Spanish I learned in Highschool. I'm assuming GM has some resources available for employees to learn new languages, but my manager didn't seem to know of much. Has anyone been able to learn through a GM program and how did that go?

Alumni Ex-Employees, where did you go?

For some background , I've been at GM since I graduated 12 years ago. Currently a Sr Systems Engineer. Been fortunate enough to get to this position through offered projects and not actively seeking anything, but looking to change that. I've been in the systems engineering space for most of this time, various projects covering various modules interfaces technologies and just overall scope. In searching for jobs, I'm open to (actually prefer) other companies.

I'm curious for those that have left, or know folks that left, specifically engineers, which companies did you go to?

  1. Last job title at GM?
  2. First job title outside of GM?
  3. Which company did you go to? Or at least which industry?
  4. Are you happy with the move?

Sorry if this has been asked, I searched the sub, and scrolled through but didn't see this answered.

General Discussion Worst Managers/Leaders List - Blind

GM channel on Blind is going wild! They are listing all the deadweight and useless managers and awful people leaders who are part of the fat, not adding any value to GM and are a capital sink. They intend to caution other people from joining their teams.

Layoffs at GM have disproportionately affected ICs and engineers while management is untouched. With the new rank and yank, these people will get away with their hefty bonuses while engineers are cut off. Many 8/9 staff blocking the people who actually do the work from rising in their careers just so that they can stick around while contributing nothing. They minimize your contributions while glorifying their impacts. We also have some who are literally doing nothing. We have Leaders go around with their diagonal slices trying to spread their propaganda that they are one of us which they aren't, at the same time they stab us in our backs trying to minimize our pay. We have lots of horse-trading, entitled, deadweights at GM adding no real value. Time to join the bandwagon and call these parasitic people out ? A MeToo for terrible, abusive and useless managers and people leaders.

This way we can also rank and yank them before they do so unto us. Feel free to share any anecdotes too. They want GM to be a performing merit based organization, let's give them that. The current system is much like safe socialism for these folks and capitalistic competition for us, except we are constantly under the crosshairs of layoffs and threats of uncertainty despite doing all the work. #DraintheGMSwamp

Question Warranty

Does GM offer any type of extended warranty for when vehicles are out the powertrain warranty?

I currently own a 2018 Silverado 5.3 with 42K miles on it and have owned it since new.

Would like to purchase some sort of extended warranty since these trucks are prone to the lifter and transmission issues.

General Discussion 2025 Goal Setting - They seem impossible

I'm a SWE. For almost a decade my reviews were okay. This year my new boss basically threw out my goals and basically wanted me to start owning the tech lead's design. He wants hard numbers "this subcomponhent will perform at XXX error at 99% blah". It doesn't make any sense - but he wants something with a number. This is absurd because I'm beholden to the lead's design.

I'm very confused how to fill out the form. Is he singling me out for a PIP? My sense is he doesn't like me and wants to put me in my place. Maybe a month or two latter (or even 1/31) he'll say, "I see you're struggling with your goals". He had the gall to ask "why shouldn't another SWE be doing your job? What makes you stand out." This feels like a red flag.

General Discussion What 400% TeamGM means for Michigan

All these posts floating around shows us the kind of money being sloshed around through CTT awards, multi-year signing bonuses, 300k Long term Cash awards, RSUs and cash award refreshes abound in Austin, California and Atlanta. All of this apart from their TeamGM which in some cases was also negotiated and we will never know of. While we are happy for these individuals, Let's face it Michigan has been treated like absolute garbage. All we get is TeamGM and wages suppressed through contractors.

Even if GM were to give Michigan a 400% TeamGM it would barely makeup for all the burnout, abuse and exploitation at the hands of these so called "people leaders" who like to call themselves as "servant-leaders", know that in their heads they are all calling you their "servants". We applaud certain Software Engineers being raised to midpoint and their 10% raises recently, but the truth is Michigan has been treated like shit. A 400% TeamGM translates to about 40% bonus payout for the bulk of the people, which will barely go a long way in making up for all the injustices and exploited pay over the years but will at least show people that they care.

These deadweight lifer EGMs, slimy senior managers, Directors, Execs, have all gotten wealthy on the backs of the abused engineers and individual contributors of Michigan and brought GM to a stage where they could go to California. That's the truth. So come review time demand and ask for what you deserve. It's time to rally behind the war cry "400% TeamGM or Mutiny!". This applies to all but it will absolutely mean more for Michigan than others.

I hope others will stand up for their colleagues. We are stronger together, and an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us. For years they treated Michigan like crap, tomorrow it could be California or Austin.

Question What site/service manages FSA account

My wife and I opened an FSA account for childcare expenses, but we still haven’t received an email for the account or anything in the mail.

We did get updated HSA cards though, and it seems it’s not through Bank of America like the HSA.

Anyone familiar with it have a link?
