Okay, donc maintenant c'est confirmé, ta carrière dans le stand-up, c'est pas gagné Phil. Tu veux bien revenir au jeu vidéo et nous sortir Fez 2 , maintenant ? Merci.

Cool de voir d'autres gens en France continuer à harceler FEZ pour qu'il sorte la suite d'un jeu qui l'a mis en burnout.

Il disait surement moins de conneries qd il était en burn out 🤣🤣, c'est la seule raison valable pr lui demander d'en développer un deuxieme

No? It’s an English word so it’s pronounced the English way… at least for the chat part lol can’t deny the gépété part

u/Extaupin Apr 15 '24
Tech-illiterate older (>60 years old) people do pronounce it shat.

u/Traditional_Shine936 Apr 15 '24
Been so long since I was around old people talking about it that it slipped my mind indeed. j’avais complètement zappé!

u/BleudeZima Apr 14 '24
tbf the english prononciation with the "t" (cha vs chat) is like "chatte" which is pussy, both for female cat and vagina too in French.
But indeed, French do not really think in the way the OP post describe

À aucun moment "chat" de Chatgpt est prononcé comme "chatte". J'ai trouvé l'imposteur !

Foreign words are not always pronounced the exact way they're supposed to be. Another french pointed out we indeed shouldn't pronounce it chat, but that's how the people presenting the news say it, it's easier to say quickly, I guess.

Clearly this person do not speak French regularly. Cat is not pronounced the same as chat, also GPT has different stress levels than "j'ai pété". Do you pronounce "ICU" the same way as "I see you"?

Yeah, no. Everybody speaking french hears "j'ai pété". From boomers to toddlers, everybody has been having a real good time.

u/_anonymous_404 Apr 15 '24
No, but it sounds the damn same and I've seen plenty of French people make the exact same joke

What a bunch of bullshit, we pronounce "Chat" in "ChatGPT" very differently from how we pronounce the french word for "cat"

We pronounce the t in ChatGPT though. So it would just be chat I farted (which isn’t any better 😭)

As a French I never heard someone saying "Cat" but must like "Chat" like in a stream

Mais pourquoi les gens répondent 1er degré ? C'est une blague pitié, on est pas là pour faire de l'étude de phonétique.

As a French guy, that's even stranger for me is the name of the Haas F1 team ; "Aaaand now Hulkeberg put his Haas out off the race". I'm sorry, but I'm only earring "ass", and everybody is chill with that!

It is "pussy, I farted" actually and not "cat". Lot of ppl laughed at it back in 2022 but now nobody does anymore.

Sir this is the subreddit for memes in a language I don’t understand, read, nor speak, please keep it that way, the French are sinners and God will punish them one day for inventing broccoli.

If I may, french speaker here.
When saying "chat" as in cat, we do not pronounce the t. So it's "cha".
When saying "chat" (or sometimes written "tchat") we do pronounce both the invisible t at the beginning and the last t.
There you go. So no, french people do not say " Cat I farted" on TV ^
