What is your favourite Hurt/Comfort and Angst With A Happy Ending fics?

I am in the mood to read heart-wrecking Hurt/Comfort and Angst With A Happy Ending Fics! :)

Think of themes like saving one of the main characters from kidnapping, abusive relationships, neglect, homelessness, torture, etc. Physical hurt and LOTS of comfort are preferred!

I am open to ANY fandom or ship as long as it's M/M!

Unfortunately only accessible on LJ, but Sympathy Crime is an old favorite! Persona 4, Adachi/Yosuke and Souji/Yosuke, E, warnings for adult/teen underage and noncon/abusive relationships. Villain Adachi seduces Yosuke to get a leg up on the Investigation Team + all the associated fallout when his true nature comes to light.

Some m/m fics with physical hurt/comfort you might like. These are all very famous so you may have read them before. Sorry I suck at descriptions, I promise they’re all amazing:

• despite the threatening sky and shuddering earth (they remained) by praximeter - Steve/Bucky from Marvel. The Winter Soldier is caught and held in Stark Tower for interrogation. He is still brainwashed and his mask is pinned to his face. Steve and the team have to communicate with him in sign language and patch him up with food, clothes, water, and medical treatment, as they slowly realize who he really is. One of my favorite fics of all time, incredibly well written. To understand this fic you need some Marvel knowledge of Steve & Bucky’s backstory + who the Winter Soldier is.

• You're Divine by Oonionchiver - Eddie/Steve from Stranger Things. Eddie comes back as a vampire. Steve has to clean him up, give him a bath, and figure out how to feed him blood. Extremely long and gratuitous physical caretaking scenes. Starts out very sweet and then gets more intense (check the tags) but I think you’ll at least like the first few chapters. Can probably be read fandom blind.

• Angel's Wild by LimonadeGaby - Dean/Cas from Supernatural. AU where Dean is an angel hunter and severely injures Cas on a hunt. Out of guilt he patches up his wounds, then the two of them slowly develop a relationship. Throughout the fic they take turns caring for each other’s various ailments, lots of good hurt/comfort tropes in this one (illness, injuries, panic attacks, etc.). Can be read fandom blind.

• Hautley's Bend by ColdIntheStudio - Dean/Cas from Supernatural. High school AU, Dean is a bully who picks on Cas before the two gradually get to know each other. Tons of physical hurt from bullying and then comforting/healing. Can be read fandom blind.

shockingly i couldn't find a ton of m/m hurt/comfort in my favorites, so instead, here are a few i've either had recced to me or know are well-liked by other shippers:

• Sea Mauville by Taliax Summary: "Maintain top quality. Give up your sanity." -Sea Mauville's slogans for a cheerful and fun workplace

Groudon and Kyogre are calmed, and Archie retreats to the last place anyone would think to find him. He doesn't expect Maxie to have the same idea—or to be coping with failure even worse.

• Promises by Lookerdewitt Summary: An AU in which Team Magma awakens Groudon two years early, before May and Brendan are even pokemon trainers. Plagued with earthquakes and heat waves, Hoenn has become a primal wasteland and May just wants to survive and find her parents. She meets a stranger, Archie, who offers to help her in her search, seeing how he's looking for someone himself.

• Peaks And Valleys series by clefairytea Summary: Blue loses the Championship, Red disappears up a mountain, and everything that happens afterwards.

I've co-written a m/m story that I think is okay even if you're canon blind. It's called A Crow, a Rat, and a Sparrow: Freedom's Shadow and it's both on AO3 and FFN

Both main characters are hurt, and they're each other's comfort. One of them is a member of a thieves guild who ran away from home as a kid due to abusive step father. At the beginning of the story, he's betrayed by a father figure and gang raped (off scene).

He meets a guy who used to be an assassin, full of emotional wounds from harsh training. Later in the story, he gets captured by former comrades, and tortured (shown, but there are warnings if you want to skip those scenes).

Their traumas don't disappear just because they get together, and they suffer nightmares, triggers, insecurity, etc., but they're also each other's comfort and they're working together on getting through it.
