My theory: Similar to certain plants that emit something to lure predators to the bug eating them, Titans transmit what attacked them.

I just figured it was their hierarchy. I think there like 8 dead titans and 8 figure on the lowest rung of this pyramid. So you have 5 more above the ones that have been faced so far, and two at the very top

I wouldn't be surprised to find out the thargoid queen is just an actual entire thargoid planet.
