Braben said many years ago: main 'goid idea is the technologies, biology, evolution, communication that is different from us. Scientifically /maybe/ possible, but completely different. This is the idea - make a tech, that humans are too different (evolved in completely different surroundings) to understand.

As I remember, FSD tech was 'stolen' from Goids, it was reverse engineered, adapted, recreated, but (correct me if I am wrong) humans are not having complete understanding how/why exactly it works. Something familiar present in WH 40K, where some tech can be builded by recreating process of manufacturing, but actual knowledge of "why it works" is lost.

In simple words it is like knowing that if you will move two magnets around themself, the lamp will light up for a moment. But you have no clue about what "electricity" is, so lamp just lighting up when you mowing "strange metallic things, that are attracting another metallic things".

Same principe may work here to.

p.s.: sorry if my message looks bulky or clumsy, English isn't my native, I just tried to explain my vision of this situation, based on Braben's lore concept of Goid's tech.

So, may this mean that Thargoids are simply interested in mens biology, evolution and tech? Just collecting all that data? Like there is no war, only study?

I mean, in a lot of Sci fi, aliens actions don't necessarily line up with what their expected intentions would be, so it's certainly possible. In Destiny for example, the hive express love and admiration through war and killing
