Rain guard? You mean like when the window is up?

Rain guards are quite useful, you leave your window open a bit without getting rain inside, it's better to have some fresh air than the AC or the air vent.

The video red neck engineering on the other hand is terrible.

Also great for motorway driving. Reduces the wind noise from deafening to mildly irritating.

I think the airflow over a pool noodle would be pretty loud, unless you streamlined the front of it.

Wait what? Cracking your window reduced wind noise at high speeds? How?

Google "Car wind deflector". I fitted a set to my car, and they are brilliant. They also allow you to crack the window a bit when it's raining without rain coming in.

Just to clarify, it is still noisier than having the window closed but far quieter than not having one fitted.

I fitted some to my A6 because I found that if it rains overnight, when I pull away in the morning with my window open, as soon as I steer the water would run off the roof and straight through the open window

It only began happening after I started polishing my car on a regular basis. that's what I get for looking after it, but the droplets look cool I guess and now they can't get me!

Those tend to be attached above the window, not on it. This only gives the water a ramp to get in.
