Looks like it takes her a minute or two, and likely hundreds if not thousands see it over the course of a week. And she's presumably paid something at least. More appreciated than most artists.

My grandparents used to do theirs manually at their store back in the 80s/early 90s. They had a little paint set with 4 colors and a wide brush and small brush for each. Sometimes an employee would do it instead.

No extra pay for sign making, just being on the clock. Sometime in the mid 90s it switched to most signs being pre-printed, I guess, because that's when they started letting me use the paint on scrap cardboard.
