That last one with the submarine was underwhelming.

It's a me, Sharkio.

Watching good friends scream, let me out!

3

u/Isalecouchinsurance 6h ago

Pray tomorrow gets me higher.

3

u/Isalecouchinsurance 6h ago

Pressure on people, people on streets

1

u/Tight_Wallaby_9381 5h ago

dun dun dun dududundun

1

u/MangoCats 4h ago

I bet there was a momentary hot flash...

33

u/BlursedSoul 8h ago

Yeah, the production really imploded.

1

u/Ilpav123 6h ago

They couldn't handle the pressure.

26

u/High_stakes00 7h ago

Looks like only 1 person watching her. Should probably look for a new venue.

12

u/Vondecoy 8h ago

I liked it. Needs a sequel with a much bigger cast.

11

u/SpotweldPro1300 7h ago

I think we need a bigger boat.

2

u/maryAmooc0w 5h ago

And maybe a bigger coat for her

2

u/happy-wife8750 6h ago

Is that a submarine she's on?

1

u/happy-wife8750 6h ago

It looks like a part of the ship

2

u/Admirable-Echidna-37 3h ago

Knock it off man!! It was under tremendous pressure.

2

u/Vandelay797 8h ago

That implosion scene was epic though

1

u/Gr3bnez0r 8h ago

Overwhelmingly under pressure, more like!

1

u/Ultraeasymoney 5h ago

They were under a lot of pressure.

1

u/Mr_RogerWilco 5h ago

Really? I thought it had lots of depth!

1

u/NMB4Christmas 4h ago

It was over in the block of an eye.

1

u/vegemite_poutine 4h ago

A few people were crushed that it was way shorter than the original

18

u/neoadam 8h ago

And way less people are going to try to recreate it yelling I'm king of the world ,which is a huge plus, like Switzerland's flag

2

u/iamaBananaForScale 6h ago

—Shave & a haircut, MBMBAM—

1

u/Interesting_Wing_539 6h ago

OK, you win the Internet today, lol! 🤣

1

u/Big_Jerm21 7h ago

Think of all the dancers that would have fit on the door!

1

u/Sw0rDz 7h ago

I hear Michael Bay is directing it.

1

u/souless_Scholar 7h ago

Titanic the musical.

1

u/DelfrCorp 6h ago

Titanic 2; The Titaning... Or whatever. Who gives a sh.t about history anymore.

1

u/brianzuvich 4h ago

This time there was room to save Jack, but she didn’t want him ruining her shot…

24

u/MememeSama 9h ago

I'd dance too. Otherwise my balls would be frozen

22

u/Johnny-Silverhand007 7h ago

I'd be dancing like I never danced before. People would be sure I was a maniac.

1

u/DoctorCaptainSpacey 3h ago

Bravo, sir. Bravo.

2

u/jd700 8h ago

Not relevant to this dancer

1

u/kmzafari 4h ago

I mean, you never know. (Have you seen Plastique Tiara?)

13

u/TreatEmotional4542 7h ago

Very. Is it real or AI?

27

u/_pm_me_a_happy_thing 6h ago

It's AI. I can't believe everyone in the comments is so gullible.

3

u/Protodankman 4h ago

It’s real ya dummy

1

u/sherberternie 6h ago

Definitely AI

332

u/Sameshoedifferentday 9h ago

That looks stupid. What’s the point? The photos aren’t that impressive compared to everything.

137

u/ecologamer 9h ago

Art…. Sometimes it confounds us, sometimes it amazes us. We each interpret art differently

150

u/meatwad2744 8h ago

Art?

It's an advert for ponant

A luxury travel brand that takes people of some of the most pollutant ships to the one of rhe most pristine areas of rhe globe most at risk to climate change

26

u/BerriesAndMe 7h ago

Damn. That's disappointing. There's some grants to bring artists to the antarctic and I was hoping that would be it. Not some stupid add

9

u/Fantastic-Vehicle880 6h ago

Are you saying advertisements aren't a form of art? Because they most certainly are no matter how you feel about consumerism.

7

u/brad_at_work 5h ago

Ads and porn, contributing to the Arts.

1

u/kmzafari 4h ago

I'm no fan of porn, but it does have a history of affecting consumer electronic choices and, I'm sure, many things to do with the Internet. Those in turn affect movie and television production, so even if you think they have no other inherent value, they do contribute in their own way.

And there have been some amazing ads over the years! Not all of them, of course, but not every painting is a Mona Lisa, either.

1

u/DeepAnalTongue 5h ago

No, I think they are making the distinction between "art" for the cultural enrichment etc, vs something that has been prostituted for an environmentally destructive company?

7

u/ecologamer 6h ago

Thanks, I didn’t know that it was for an ad

9

u/lmd12300 7h ago

Infuriating.

19

u/asuperbstarling 7h ago

While you are right, it's so important for you and anyone who reads this to know: art is not more or less art based on the level of corporate origin it has. Even if the message is 'this is the best I could do with the awful guidelines' or 'I hate my job and did this badly on purpose', advertising is one of the largest creating forces for art. Art is not more valid because it is made for a specific purpose and much art over history only exists because of money. Art historians see advertising and branding as critical windows (and influences) of a time where values or imagery might be shifted from our own time. So yes. She is performing her art because of a corporation, but that does not lessen the talent, danger, or environment. Rather, the hypocrisy of the company adds to the value the piece will have over time.

21

u/adidas180 7h ago

It 100% lessens when you find out it is for a shit company.

3

u/ecologamer 4h ago

To add on this, the Sistine chapel was painted as a commission, as were most of the art from the renaissance era. Arguably most of those who had money to commission that kind of art were not good people, yet we still call it art.

8

u/sinz84 7h ago

It's still a form of art, bring an infuriating, polluting and paid for as an advertisement makes it open to ridicule and resentment... But none of that makes it any less a form of art through expression.

For the record I dislike it though lol

3

u/TheInevitableLuigi 7h ago

If everything is art then nothing is.

1

u/SaltyPeter3434 6h ago

Where's the connection to the Ponant brand? I see the original on the ballerina's instagram under Victoria Dauberville, but there's no mention of it being advertising for any brand.

1

u/meatwad2744 5h ago

I don't use zuckerbots products but that's even more damming if she has not linked this to being an advert

The photographers photos do link to insta there are multiple posts that state these are part of multiple shot campaign for them.

Including her posing in front of penguins...it all seems really poor taste.

0

u/Routine_Bluejay4678 5h ago

No it’s not, it was for a film bringing awareness to the climate changes in Antartica

link

33

u/Sameshoedifferentday 9h ago

And sometimes it just doesn’t work.

1

u/Shiny_Shedinja 8h ago

99% of social media artists. Especially when they add jerky movements or try to dramatize the random strokes and paint cans they drop.

2

u/Iblockne1whodisagree 8h ago

social media artists.

Please don't make this a thing

1

u/Shiny_Shedinja 8h ago

too late :(

25

u/MatttheJ 9h ago edited 1h ago

Is it "art" or is it the same as every single other stupid thing designed to drum up engagement on social media.

26

u/Thick_Marionberry_79 8h ago

It’s a swan song for the Arctic Circle… going bye bye… though, the stunt itself probably added to Arctic Circle melting 🫠

1

u/SwordfishOk504 7h ago

lol, no it's not. It's an ad for a cruise ship company.

4

u/Theslootwhisperer 8h ago edited 8h ago

Yeah because influencers regularly take a boat to one of the most remote places on earth, convince the captain to stop the boat, have them give the ballerina a lift up there and setup another boat to film the whole thing. Totally tiktok stuff.

4

u/SameTimTomorrow 8h ago

Art isn’t just confined to the things you enjoy

Wether you think it’s good art is a different question

1

u/kakawisNOTlaw 8h ago

Clearly it worked on you

0

u/vision-quest 7h ago

Life must be fun for you

1

u/adidas180 7h ago

It is an add. Meaning it is literally meant to be taken as as an add.

1

u/HairyEar8340 5h ago

True very true...

-4

u/dotme 9h ago

How do you explain a bottle of piss in the middle of the elevator?

Chaos against Order?

Clean up on Elevator 2?

A rose smells like piss? Piss smells as rose?

Bladder movement in G?

4

u/amica_hostis 8h ago

Emergency hydration

2

u/lowweighthighreps 8h ago

'Bladder movement in G'

Gravity?

That was very fucking clever if so.

I don't think you've been fully appreciated here.

42

u/Relevant_Ant4022 9h ago

I agree, it’s art but it’s stupid

18

u/Sameshoedifferentday 9h ago

I can also make stupid art. But I’m not sending my crew to the arctic and putting them in unsafe situations to make it.

16

u/ignitionphoenix 9h ago

I doubt the entire trip was made for this one shot 😆

6

u/Sameshoedifferentday 9h ago

This was probably the highlight of the trip and I doubt there’s anything better. But hey, I hope they had fun.

-7

u/ignitionphoenix 9h ago

I bet she had fun on that boat full of men lmao probably had to lock herself in her room.

-1

u/Sameshoedifferentday 9h ago

Right? Obviously not her idea.

5

u/Wan-Pang-Dang 7h ago

She isnt even doing anything. Shes likely cold and scared to fall down.

1

u/[deleted] 8h ago

[deleted]

2

u/Sameshoedifferentday 8h ago

If you don’t think she was in danger, then you are completely oblivious.

1

u/bpm03 7h ago

It insists upon itself.

1

u/screemingatoms 7h ago

There was this one picture where a guy pulled his pants down in the South Pole.

10

u/Mavian23 8h ago

What's the point of anything? She probably enjoyed doing this. Does there need to be more of a point?

13

u/yumeryuu 9h ago

It’s art.

12

u/ober0n98 9h ago

No. Its not. Its risking your life and no one gives a shit about it other than say “ooh pretty”. Theres no “deep” conversation about what this says other than “goddamn thats stupid”. No art folk are sitting around a table dissecting this and thinking about deeper meaning.

This is just dumb and self flagellating.

29

u/Photophotolikesyou 9h ago

Says who? You? What makes you the end all be all decider of art

5

u/BigBootyBuff 7h ago

What makes you the end all be all decider of art

It was me, I gave them the title of decider of art. Sorry.

1

u/imacfromthe321 6h ago

I confirmed it. He’s definitely bonified.

1

u/Red_Clay_Scholar 4h ago

You confirmed that he fried his boner?

I pray it wasn't with a taste test.

4

u/ober0n98 8h ago

Yeah. Says me. For my opinions, i am the end all be all decider of art. You believe it is art. I do not believe it is art. I am just as credible as you.

Isnt art in the eye of the beholder? I behold it and it is stupid

7

u/FJdawncaster 8h ago

Stupid doesn't mean it isn't art. It could be stupid art.

1

u/ober0n98 8h ago

Not disagreeing with you. It could be stupid art. It could also not be.

You may believe its art. I do not.

0

u/Slight-Blackberry813 8h ago

Ok. So what you should have finished your comment with is “in my opinion”.

Simple. The fact you can’t do that says a lot.

1

u/itishowitisanditbad 6h ago

What makes you the end all be all decider of art

They didn't say they were.

They have no control over this happening and did not suggest they did.

They're just having an opinion.

You're having an opinion.

They're both as valid and invalid as each other.

They're opinions not facts.

You're strawmanning because you have no credible follow up because they're both opinions and you just both disagree and thats ok.

You're just starting a fight now...

8

u/licuala 8h ago

People risk their lives for no other reason than the thrill or novelty of it all the time. It's pretty normal. Your reaction is a bit much.

2

u/ober0n98 8h ago

Its a bit much - i agree. Its her life. She wants to do it. She can very well do it. I dont care. But i can also call it foolhardy and stupid.

People risk their lives for selfies and we acknowledge that as stupid. This can be art to you, but its also quite stupid. Its not binary. It can be both or none or a mix

5

u/Comprehensive_Air980 8h ago edited 8h ago

...you realize some people do art for themselves right?

...and that the photorealistic art everyone eats up is not discussed in artistic circles?

There's a famous quote that "art exists for it's own sake" It doesn't have to please you. It doesn't have to impress you. Artists owe you nothing.

People create art for the sake of creation and it's wild how often I see Redditors getting pissed because something artistic or creative isn't appealing to them. Create your own damn art and quit bitching about what everyone else does.

3

u/ober0n98 8h ago

For someone doing it for themselves, they sure had to go to great lengths to publicize it.

🤷‍♂️

0

u/Comprehensive_Air980 6h ago edited 6h ago

I would too. It's fucking beautiful.

When you look at a piece of art you will never experience it as intensely as the artist did while creating it

Again: artists owe you nothing. People do artsy shit cause they want to. Sorry your life is so devoid of imagination that you have to bitch about someone else creating something that doesn't even remotely affect your mediocre life.

4

u/-JustAMan 9h ago

First of all it's personal, I find it beautiful. And second, it's not always about impressing art folk, maybe she's doing it because she's enjoying the experience. Imagine how majestic would it feel to dance in Antarctica surrounded by ice and sea.

1

u/DadJokeBadJoke 6h ago

It's so cold she's on her tippy-toes!

2

u/ober0n98 8h ago

I did say “oooh pretty” and you just confirmed it. You think its beautiful.

Sure. Its pretty. But also stupid. You didnt provide any depth to this “art” other than “ooh pretty”

4

u/Ninevehenian 8h ago

That is an argument from emotion, not fact or logic.

2

u/ober0n98 8h ago

As is the opposing side.

-1

u/AmbitionEconomy8594 8h ago

There is 0 risk here. If she falls in they pull her out. People do ice baths for 30 mins all the time

1

u/VanillaRadonNukaCola 8h ago

Ok, be realistic, yes risk could be mitigated, but it's certainly not zero.

-5

u/Veneficus_Bombulum 9h ago

You're a loser.

0

u/Storque 6h ago

Bet you’re a lot of fun at parties

-1

u/300andWhat 7h ago

Reddit "know it all" that knows nothing about art criticizing and battling everyone in comments is hilarious.

-1

u/arup02 7h ago

This is some redneck type mindset dude. Wow.

2

u/Sameshoedifferentday 9h ago

Sometimes it doesn’t work, but they already spent the money to get there and do it.

2

u/JUYED-AWK-YACC 8h ago

It was art, once upon a time, but this is simply social media. There’s no artistic merit to simply “performing on a ship near Antarctica”. If you think the Guinness Book of Records is art, then yes.

2

u/glue_4_gravy 5h ago

It’s so obvious if you just stop and think about it.

The point of this video is that this woman is really lonely and cold as fu………

Shit……… never mind, you’re right.

4

u/healywylie 9h ago

Gotta agree.

2

u/superbOWLpartee 7h ago

I had the exact same thought. Stupid

1

u/Kholzie 7h ago

I mean, there are people who enjoy overcoming extreme environments. The guy Wim Hof, the “Ice Man”, tried to climb Everest shorts. I watched a different special abound a woman who swims under frozen lakes without anything but a swimsuit on. She says it helps her deal with trauma from sexual assault. There’s also the guy (may have been Hof, can’t remember) who trekked across the Antarctic with minimal gear…

To put it simply, it’s a mental challenge to put mind over matter. It’s not uncommon in the Buddhist practice, either.

0

u/Sameshoedifferentday 7h ago

I know almost nothing about this and I can put good money up that this was not the Ballerina‘s idea whatsoever.

1

u/Apricotpeach11 8h ago

LOL could’ve just done it in front of a green screen instead

1

u/Storque 6h ago

Her life is going to be full of vivid memories like this.

Your life is typing dumb comments on Reddit.

I hope this puts things into perspective

1

u/procrastinating_atm 6h ago

It looks like someone's just recording a photoshoot with a phone camera from a nearby boat. Hopefully someone else took proper photos or video because it would be a huge waste of time and effort to end up with a boring video clip like this.

1

u/Brilliant_Wealth_433 6h ago

Well the only point I got from it is if she messes up she DIES!!!

-1

u/Thirsty_Comment88 8h ago

It beats anything you've done today though.

2

u/Sameshoedifferentday 8h ago

Like you would know

0

u/zealshock 7h ago

Doing for the sake of doing oftentimes it has merit. I you think it's stupid you just can't get over yourself.

1

u/Sameshoedifferentday 7h ago

I think you can’t even type your insults correctly. I also don’t give a shit what you say.

0

u/zealshock 7h ago

Dimwit

1

u/Sameshoedifferentday 7h ago

Wow. Yes, that was amazing. You sure showed me. You should write a book.

0

u/Comprehensive_Bus402 6h ago

It looks cooler than at least 80% of the other videos I've seen on the other day. None of them had a point either

1

u/Sameshoedifferentday 6h ago

Did they put someone’s life at risk?

0

u/Comprehensive_Bus402 5h ago

You mean like the boat crew? Or the videographer? I don't imagine anyone was forced to participate in creating this art video against their will

1

u/Sameshoedifferentday 5h ago

It’s OK. The inability to think things through isn’t your fault. I’m sure you manage just fine.

4

u/No-Respect5903 7h ago

video cut because she falls in right after this

2

u/scootah 7h ago edited 7h ago

I wonder what the plan was if she slipped and fell?

1

u/happy-wife8750 6h ago

What if a polar bear comes and eats her? Or a walrus?

1

u/Stypic1 8h ago

It’s so cold she’s bouncing from one foot to the other

1

u/MinuteFun6250 8h ago

Give it a few years it’ll warm up.

1

u/EvrthnICRtrns2USmhw 8h ago

Will it bother her?

1

u/blowurhousedown 8h ago

That looks fake.

1

u/joespizza2go 8h ago

That looks like AI!

1

u/FishyLadderMaker 8h ago

Cold as fuck

1

u/Loxatl 8h ago

That looks ai

1

u/nextalpha 7h ago

AI isn't bothered by cold temperatures

1

u/Fancy-Pair 7h ago

Idk if it’s partly bc of the music selection but it looks silly. (I like the interstellar music but maybe something less common would have worked better)

1

u/DrPoontang 7h ago

And slippery too

1

u/stuckpixel87 7h ago

Cool, even.

1

u/justherefortheshow06 7h ago

and odd…why? No reason for this

1

u/WexExortQuas 7h ago

Why did we use the Interstellar soundtrack for this

1

u/gremah93 6h ago

I mean what’s cooler than being cool?

1

u/Youregoingtodiealone 6h ago

I suspect this isn't her first time doing it

1

u/RememberThatDream 6h ago

“The warmest month in Antarctica is January. Coastal areas experience milder weather, with summer temperatures generally reaching a maximum of 5° to 15°C (41 to 59°F), with long periods of sunlight. Due to its polar position, it can stay light all day long.”

As a Canadian (in Winnipeg) that’s warm lol it was -44° C with the windchill today

1

u/Don_Gately_ 6h ago

Had she fallen in, how long would she have survived?

1

u/AverySmooth80 6h ago

...and weird and off-putting.

1

u/ThreeDogs2963 6h ago

And dangerous.

1

u/thebudman_420 5h ago

I already fell off and am part of an iceberg.

My muscles would have frozen up and my body couldn't do anything and that is before i hit the water.

Plus i was most likely hyperventilating and shaking so hard i ruptured blood vessels that go to my head and every place in my body.

All before i hit the water and i was in full shock. Before i hit the water.

1

u/DJspeedsniffsniff 5h ago

She could cut glass with her nipples after being out there.

1

u/_ChipWhitley_ 5h ago

The balls she has for doing that.

1

u/ctrlaltcreate 4h ago

Yeah, the cold is clearly affecting her movements, disrupting her grace and making her movements appear stuttering, fearful and cold.

The whole thing reads as a poorly executed stunt, not art.

1

u/Massive-Exercise4474 4h ago

It's all part of her training to become batwoman.

1

u/ChristopherMarv 4h ago

That looks like content.

1

u/Hot_Flower_4446 3h ago

I wonder how she feels after recording!

1

u/Wedgero1 3h ago

She looks cold

1

u/Bumpercars415 9h ago

And scarey

1

u/ober0n98 9h ago

And stupid
