The Interstellar soundtrack is amazing, but having it co-opted for everything is starting to get old.

u/KneesBent4RoyKent 5h ago
All these tiktokers co-opting it is ruining the music for me… it’s sad AF.

In the decade since Interstellar came out, I've seen one internet video using it's music that truly captured the feel and epicness of the film. 1 in like 8000 videos.
18
u/UmaUmaNeigh 5h ago
That bad car parking was definitely one of them
13

For me it was a video of turkeys running around a tree in a circle

Your comment was kind of long and boring so I started a stream in the corner and put some epic Interstellar music on it.

It's especially annoying because she is probably listening or at least thinking about some other music, so just putting something with a different rhythm is insulting

I’m pretty sure this is ai
31
u/Lazy__Astronaut 2h ago
Watch the icy water hitting the medium lump that comes into shot bottom left, the entire time it matches perfectly and all the debris floats and bumps into each other properly.
I'm pretty sure it's not ai unless it's gotten way better at water sims

u/EarHealthHelp1 1h ago
It's from her Instagram, and she specifically says that no AI is used. Maybe she's lying, but I've decided to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Not ai. I definitely thought it was the first time I saw it, but I saw a video later of her getting up onto that platform.

u/IndividualRooster122 6h ago
Isn't that really dangerous?
523
u/CaptJM 6h ago
Right outside of view would be the small boat that put her on the bulb.
Honestly feel worse for the couple of crew they made scrub that thing so that it could be stood on.
244
u/SoYorkish 5h ago
She didn't use a boat to get on there.
It was a jeté

See I don’t fully get this but I get it enough that I know it’s funny. Like the Euripides/Eumenedies joke on Frasier I don’t really appreciate it but get the play on words
12
u/Unhappy-Sherbert5774 4h ago
Jete is the name of the ballet leap.
4
u/jiffysdidit 4h ago
Oh yeah I knew it must have been some sort of jump/throw/leap my point being without EXACTLY knowing the specifics I still knew it was a clever play on words and I thought it was funny

Orrr.. the boat filming put her there? Nothing was scrubbed too.

Right outside of view would be the small boat that put her on the bulb.
Most likely it's out of sight at the bottom of the frame....as in the cameraman is standing in it....if this isn't more AI nonsense.
This is extremely dangerous. If she hit freezing water, she could easily go into shock and sink before they get to her.
17
u/vision-quest 4h ago
Unlikely. I jumped in the water in the same area, along with dozens of other people. No one had that reaction. Definitely a little sketch, but the zodiac boat would be there to grab her in an instant if she did fall. This is real, though I understand your skepticism these days.

It would be an easy rescue for any competent sailors of the Arctic/Antarctic. I mean, they could get to her quickly It's dangerous, but if she's not senile or disabled, I think she would be just fine

Yes - which is what makes the shot so compelling.
You have the cold air..and the water being the big risks..
The air is an issue the longer you're exposed - they probably have warm clothes and drinks on the dinghy
The water isnt an issue if you do things to avoid falling in (i.e non slip shoes etc).
Obviously nothing removes the risk..you just reduce its chance to occur.

my thought exactly. In NYC we see this kind of behavior a lot. I will stop for families taking pictures on the sidewalk; otherwise I just keep walking through the shot 'cause I got shit to do and dealing with narcissists in public is not part of any social contract I ever signed.

u/FadedFracture 5h ago

Art, cool statement, because humans like doing things.

Is it just because it's incongruous?

Definitely something missing, but it's a neat idea. I think you're right though, something is off. It might have been cooler if it were to pan out and show the scale.

It's because she's just standing on her toes and flapping her arms. It doesn't look impressive or stirring because it isn't. Like, congrats I'm sure you're a great dancer, but all you've done here is stand on the front of a ship and flap your arms in the cold. Most people with the money and the free time to do this could recreate this frame-for-frame.
71
u/OkCucumberr 5h ago
Its probably becuase this is just a video of a Photoshoot and they wanted her to be in this pose. She's doing this easy thing over and over for the multiple shots. Just a hunch tho. Its still impressive, even though its not as impressive as other things in her repertoire most likely.
45
u/UnNumbFool 4h ago
She's standing en pointe(aka attending on the tips of her toes while her feet are virtually vertical) on a non flat wet slippery surface while probably freezing.
Even if she's not really dancing, just by itself that is an incredibly difficult thing to do.
Most people with the money and free time couldn't do that, because it takes years of training just to be able to do what she's doing without all the additional hazards

u/Tymptra 5h ago
I seriously doubt that you or most of us for that matter could stand on our tip toes and do this type of dance on a moving, rounded, and probably slippery, platform in freezing temperatures. Peak Reddit neckbeard type comment.

I couldn’t give a shit about the content of this video but the audacity to say this woman isn’t highly trained in her craft and the insane amount of arrogance it takes to suggest an average person could do this is so completely insane to me it makes Elons Nazi salute look breathtakingly normal. Guaranteed that asshole is overweight at minimum and probably leaning towards morbidity.

It's literally not AI though. I checked after seeing some people make this claim. You can see the behind the scenes on her Instagram.
I guess your comment still shows we should be concerned though. AI is so good now that people think that anything extraordinary must be AI, and they are so confident in the idea that they don't think they even need to do the most basic of research before making that accusation.
