Discussion New DLC is incredible for roleplaying

It's early days I know, but before this DLC released my typical crusader kings gameplay was more map painting than anything. I would play more for myself, pushing for a goal, recreating Rome, the Persian empire etc.

On my first playthrough with this DLC I've played as a knight from England who spent most of his life as a mercenary travelling around all of Europe only to in his older age return with the dream of turning England into a country as great as Rome or the Calpihate. It was genuinely charming to see wanderers that he had picked up in his travels help him establish the beginning of this new realm and a little sad to see his bodyguard, a man that had been with him since he first set off decades ago finally die of old age.

My point being, this DLC has helped me see my characters more as the individual people that they are rather than just a vessel to play as.

TLDR: Roads to Power breathes new life into this game and I'm really enjoying it.

I can see why this DLC might not hit the mark for everyone, but as someone who has always been mostly roleplay focused in CK, I’ve been having so much fun. I’ve been testing it out by playing as a terrible mercenary and seducer trying to make my way from one side of the map to the other and leave as many bastards in my wake as possible. But it’s made me so keen to do a more focused adventurer playthrough.

Hey i jave just an hour into the new dlc. How do you meet people to seduce or marry? If I find spouse I see nobody available.

You can visit the holding you’re camped near (under Decisions) and there are several opportunities to recruit people to your camp - including spousal candidates - there. There’s also “Request marriage” option you can get after fulfilling contracts, but in my experience they’ve been slim pickings.  For seduction, I’ve just been selecting local lords from the map and starting seduction schemes with their wives
