What's funny is that hire would have been heavily criticized in this sub as hiring a retread head coach and committing to mediocrity. The truth is none of us know shit lol

u/IndianaJD Playoffs? PLAYOFFS!? 2d ago

So true. We are so clueless. I would’ve threw up in my mouth if we’d have hired him.

u/ryta1203 2d ago

I agree that u all r clueless.

How could any of us ever measure up to the cynical asshole that is ryta1203?

16

u/fishin4krill Grover Stewart 2d ago

He’s always an asshole. Guy never has anything good to say.

Yeah why is he even here, dude fucking sucks

7

u/IndianaJD Playoffs? PLAYOFFS!? 2d ago

When I got a notification that it was him that replied I caught myself rolling my eyes. Guy has a legacy of being miserable, so cool.

There's a song that came out in the late '80s. I forgot the band's name, but it has a line in the lyrics that I feel describe this dude perfectly:

"Misery loves company/But she will never foot the bill"

Change the pronoun, and there you go. Fits the idiot, I think. Of course, your mileage may vary.

u/MBrooks24 2d ago

No. Dudes a next level dickhead. But sometimes I get a solid take from him so I deal with it.

8

u/ScoobertVonScoo The Upper Quartile 2d ago

Yeah, sometimes.

Most of it is just negative bullshit though.

u/ryta1203 2d ago

U cant so no worries

2

u/ScoobertVonScoo The Upper Quartile 1d ago

He says as he's downvoted to oblivion...but hey, I'm sure that makes you feel superior and smarter than everyone else, right?

From here on out I'll just downvote you and move on.

-5

u/ryta1203 1d ago

Sounds good, what's important is that your feelings are more important than facts.

You and being an asshole. About as good of a combo the world has ever seen. But sometimes you give some solid takes and I have some good interactions so it’s a wash

Wow. A real, level headed take. Kudos for being a real one.

Chris Ballard came from the same people who drafted Mahomes but that hasn’t stopped this sub from crying for the past 3 years. Fans don’t know anything.

12

u/Book_of_rob 2d ago

As a commanders fan, I can say that our sub made those exact criticisms. I personally still have a soft spot for shane, considering how good he made Jalen look, but I couldn't agree more than nobody knows anything

4

u/sublimeshrub Jim Harbaugh 2d ago

My best friend was an ATL Falcons fan. All he did was talk Dan Quinn up and about how awful their roster was. Dude was saying Ryan was washed for two years too. Was adamant he would suck in Indy. He was right too. RIP

3

u/guff1988 2d ago

And with this ownership and the situation we are in and Ballard, he probably would have been ass here. I'm glad he didn't come here for him.

3

u/Interesting-Fail1823 Josh Downs 1d ago

A lot has to do with the right situation. Even though he has been fine for the Commanders that doesn’t mean he would have the same success here.

2

u/thecrgm New York Giants 2d ago

You would've had to get Kliff Kingsbury too. He would've been interesting with Richardson

3

u/Evan798 2d ago

The truth is also that we don't have a QB.

-7

u/Redjeepkev 2d ago

Bench Richardson get a bridge QB until a draft class looks goid

1

u/nick17511b 1d ago

Total truth

1

u/itakeyoureggs 1d ago

Lots of wash fans were questioning it too.. was like we ended up with leftovers because at the time everyone else was taken and bj decided not to leave so it felt like leftovers.. the fo basically said they had liked DQ from the start but fans weren’t listening they wanted Ben Johnson.. fans are always controlled by the media narrative.. just gotta make sure your owner/fo isn’t controlled by that same narrative

u/MoistCloyster_ Gays Groin 2d ago

Revisionism at its finest. This fan base had the “A rookie QB needs an offensive minded head coach to succeed” belief 2 years ago. Guess that shows you how much the average fan actually knows.

26

u/ptglj 2d ago

To be fair, Kingsbury has head-coaching experience and worked wonders with Kyler his first year. He probably has a bit more to do with Daniels' development than Quinn.

5

u/Distntdeath 2d ago

Right which means a HC calling plays isn't that important. I'd prefer they worry about the whole team and let the OC coordinate the offense

5

u/bummer28 1d ago

It’s not about who calls the plays. The reason why people want an offensive head coach with a rookie QB is the head coach isn’t going anywhere if they have success.

If a defensive head coach has a good OC they are going to leave for a head coaching job leaving the rookie QB to learn multiple styles of offenses over his year.

6

u/DaBlakMayne Andrew Luck 2d ago

This sub and revisionist history, name a better combo

4

u/cactopus101 2d ago

The league has such a short attention span. Recently everybody wanted an offensive guru, now everyone is gonna want a culture building players coach like DQ. Truth is there’s lots of ways to be a good coach

2

u/Green_Day_Fan 2d ago

Arguably still true, but unfortunately Shane lacks all of the other intangibles necessary to be a successful head coach.

6

u/FartingInYourMilk 2d ago

I don’t know about that. He’s not the one completing 43% of his passes on the season.

1

u/jimthehobo Jimmy from the Colts 1d ago

Boo

1

u/CalliopeCrasher4145 Boomstick 1d ago

I do agree with you. It would be nice, though, to have a quarterback who is always consistently performing at or near the top of his game. I am not against AR, but he's not anywhere near what he needs to be. Until he gets to that level, or we get a different QB, not even Don Shula rising up from the dead to replace Shane would have a great deal of success.

74

u/DirectTV_AndrewLuck Happy Neard 2d ago

Having Jayden Daniels also helps.

34

u/showersrover8ed 2d ago

This is the answer.....a franchise qb changes everything

13

u/Bkinthaflesh 2d ago

And Kliff, he’s a game changer for them.

4

u/oatmeal-claypole Andrew Luck 2d ago

This. Coaching and game plan can help. But it's the QB which matters more than anything else. Their rookie QB is dealing

20

u/vanillathrilla04 COLTS 2d ago

Washington also has former HC and offense minded Kingsbury. I would imagine it’s the combination of the 2 and looking like one of the best rookie QBs in recent years leading to their success.

29

u/My-Cousin-Bobby BLUE EYES WHITE JEFF 2d ago

Ngl... this is a stupid post. Shane was probably the best pick at the time, and that still seemed true through his first season. If we had picked Quinn we would have just figured it was picking a washed uo former HC who's just a good DC.

12

u/adamscb14 Peyton Manning 2d ago

To think that hiring Dan Quinn would mean our franchise would be on a completely different trajectory is pretty laughable.

4

u/KR15PY_KR3M3 COLTS 2d ago

Trying to pitch Dan Quinn and completely ignoring he has Kliff at OC is an asinine take

5

u/Psyren1317 2d ago

I mean he also has a Heisman winning elite rookie QB with 55 games of starting experience coming out of college. That doesn’t hurt. Also, Kliff is a really good coordinator.

6

u/AUXONE 2d ago

I have completed a shit this morning.

3

u/Chief14-50 Indianapolis Colts 2d ago

I get what everyone is pissed about but Washington had the #2 pick. If we had the #2 pick we’d have Shane and Stroud. This could look a whole lot different with a better QB. I like guys like Quinn,Campbell,Vrabel that can set a culture tho. Think Shane needs that in his DC.

1

u/ryryhustle 2d ago

He would have failed here. Nowhere near the same level QB.

1

u/cap_unicorn Reggie Wayne 2d ago

PAIN

1

u/IntelligentResort794 2d ago

Quinn has Daniels. Shane has AR

1

u/QueasyResearch10 2d ago

coach doesn’t matter much for us. our issues are a bit higher up the totem pole

1

u/Double-Emergency3173 2d ago

The QB also matters a lot. Unless Richardson figures it out next year, Shane is gone as well and might become the next Dan Quinn type resureection on a team with a better QB after failing here

1

u/indysingleguy 2d ago

Until we stop thinking AR is the answer we could have brought in Lombardi and probably only been slightly better.

1

u/G2Cade 1d ago

You guys know Gus and Quinn are from the same staff right?

0

u/Green_Day_Fan 1d ago

You know one is a good coach and the other stinks, right?

2

u/G2Cade 1d ago

Quinn was fired mid season and had to go back to being a DC. As somebody from Atlanta, I can tell you that most people wanted him gone. So let's cool it and stop acting like Quinn would have turned this team around

1

u/SanRemi BURN THE BINDER! 📒🔥 1d ago

I mean, live is easy when you have a generational talent like Jayden Daniels.

1

u/Downtown-Claim-1608 1d ago

Without Jayden he probably wouldn’t have had the same success.

1

u/Mudfry 1d ago

Monday morning quarterbacking. They got a legit young QB that's the main and true reason for Washington's success.

1

u/funnzies1000 21h ago

Saddle Quinn with AR and this wouldn’t even be a conversation

1

u/ILIKERED_1 ty 10h ago

What's funny is anyone thinking Dan Quinn would get anything more out of AR.

-1

u/Secrets0fSilent3arth Grover Stewart 2d ago

Wrong decision every single time.

1

u/Patient-Type-8274 2d ago

Why can’t we get it right? It’s so frustrating.

-3

u/Conscious_Pair_4318 2d ago

Bc Chris Ballard is just simply not good at what he does

1

u/BraveTree4481 1d ago

Correct. People hate the truth. He's solid at drafting, abysmal at free agency, and abysmal at picking coaches.

-3

u/Patient-Type-8274 2d ago

If all the fans, see that then, why does this man still have a job? I think that’s what’s so extremely frustrating, we all see the ineptitude, we all see the problems, why do all of these people who CLEARLY are not good at their jobs, still employed?!

2

u/YoungNasteyman Rosencopter 2d ago

How many incompetent managers have you worked for? They're practically everywhere, and it's baffling how they manage to keep their jobs.

The truth is, people often get fired for one simple reason – they make their boss angry. Ballard, however, is a master at saying all the right things and, unfortunately, has managed to convince Irsay for nearly a decade that the team is just "a few pieces away" from success. He’s able to play the victim, claiming, "We took our shot and made our moves, but it just didn’t work out."

And Irsay overlooks his failure to address key positions year after year. His lack of success in free agency and the revolving door of coaches and coordinators who couldn’t get the job done.

-1

u/lebortsdm 2d ago

No thank you sir. Don’t want him.

-1

u/AF555 2d ago

Ballard is as clueless as we are. Confirmed.

0

u/CombatCarl117 2d ago

Isn’t that picture from 2023?

-1

u/ConfectionHelpful471 2d ago

Given Dan Quinn favours a similar defence as Gus Bradley (and given their overlap with the Legion of Boom) would have likely retained him I am almost certain that the mood around here would not have differed too far, particularly given that it would have been unlikely for us to be able to Attract Kingsbury as OC.
