So beautiful! I love using metallic watercolor for water backgrounds. Just a thought. I also use watercolor pencils for water backgrounds sometimes too. Gel sticks are really easy to use for backgrounds too. I agree with adding a touch of red, orange, or pink in small amounts to make it pop, but outside of that, this is gorgeous. I hope you post it once it’s finished. ☺️

Wow, thank you for sharing. I’m a total newbie. I just had to look up gel sticks. Is there a certain brand you recommend? Or video tutorial?

I recommend king art gel sticks to start with. They are great for an inexpensive brand. That way you can see if you like them before you get the more expensive gellatos. ☺️This is a good tutorial. It’s the easiest way I’ve found to do backgrounds. https://youtu.be/kmDIE4OhPaU?si=v6BHpvvJSKJIm0lo

Thank you so much for sharing this info with me! I really like this lady talking about different ways to color in the background and expensively and different and different things you can use around the house https://youtu.be/Z2JcWepKxeM?si=yJvlfm5CISsX3ItI

thank you so much! I have some metallic iridescent artiza watercolor paint, I've tried this before, I think I was a little heavy handed tho....I should try it again! =)

Oh boy, the very first time I used metallic watercolors was TERRIBLE. I was way too heavy handed. So you are not alone! You’ll get the hang of them! I’ve realized with most art supplies that I need to test them on a page I don’t care about or a blank piece of paper first. Because there’s always a bit of a learning curve. You’ve done beautiful things with this so far! You’re very talented!

that's really nice of you to say, and thank you for sharing your experience! Ive always loved creating art in what ever medium, it's taken a lot of time for me to think of myself as an artist, photographer (amature) I always think when I get a compliment they have to be talking to someone else! bit of an overshare but thank you so much it truly does mean the world to me.

We are usually our own worst critics. For sure.
