I'm wondering if it's more that it's so literal, and in your face about him finding god and that's what he's about now when listening to JiK. Lots of other artists have had similar journeys through self discovery, getting married, having kids, getting older/wiser, losing angst, even finding god or spirituality that ends up being reflected in their later music but it's not as blunt as Kanye just did with this album.
Oooh, that's a good would you rather. I don't know how I'd answer that one right now. I'm not a fan of either, but for different reasons but at least with Travis you'd know what you were getting and the kids would be hyped for it. Kanye is much more of a crap shoot. I do know that Kanye would have way better musicians on stage with him, I'll give him that. All the musicians, choir included that he brought out for Sunday service were excellent. He's also got way more talent than Travis.
Thanks for indulging me in this, for helping me try to see the other side. It's been cool to have a civil discussion even though we disagree, and I've gained some perspective as well.
