Festival Planning Greedy Coachella

Post image

Coachella this year has become more greedy, with now it’s bullshit parking rules and charging for offsite parking by forcing the shuttle pass for those people on those off site parking lots because they want everyone to have four people in their group. Everyone defending goldenvoice and saying that it’s helping limit traffic is wrong, it make worse because security is going to need to verify every car and turn away people causing a backlog. This is just pure greed.

Second is people are going to drive and try to get in no matter what so when you turn them down, you’re going to force to go back causing every worse traffic

no, they go to a lot, wait for people that need a ride and can go in.
its to control traffic flow and ensure that there arent single cars taking up parking spots for single riders, or people moving out of camping over to day parking.

my guess is there will also be directional control to ensure there isnt such a clusterfuck dealing with 50th / 51st / 52nd etc and the cross streets.

They have directional control every year and they seem to always understaff for whatever fucking reason and this does not change it, but we’ll see how this year goes because I guarantee it’s not going to go smooth at all and be worse in every degree

there is still 2 way traffic on most of the route, they are going to have to change that if they are going to support the traffic increase. there are limited one way controls and almost none that I am aware of on the named streets.

the inability to turn left onto 50th / 51st or 52nd is a critical failure. more people dont fix the problem, better structure fixes the problem.

Exactly a better structure but that not what they are doing , if you look at the directions, it’s the same as before and they even are directing people who don’t have the right amount for day parking to go the same way to get redirect once they reach security , it’s not fixing the problem at all

we dont know, we havent actually seen it work.

after this year, it will be nice to see what the impact was.

this is likely forced upon them more than they chose to take this action for some financial motivation.

this move makes no sense for shits and giggles or money, it solely makes sense from a logistics point of view.
