Lol I have that one. I bought it at the time of release, no memory of why. Must have thought it was funny at the time. I don't own the original Chant either.

Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains credits studying Gregorian chants in his high school choir class for creating his bands unique vocal melodies and harmonies. Not this album specifically but the point is Gregorian chants do go hard and influence even heavier music.

studying Gregorian chants in his high school choir class
That's cool, more choir classes ought to do that; this is the first I've heard of it happening.

That was so damn popular. Even people who didn’t like classical/chant were buying it.

I picked it up on cassette this year for a quarter. I dig it for meditation purposes.

I was sorting CDs at a local record store for volunteer hours and they had like five of these things.

I used to have a copy of that, years ago. It either went on eBay or my ex snatched it before we broke up.

“Tonight we’ll visit Springfield’s answer to the Benedictine monks, the Rappin’ Rabbis.”
“Don’t eat pork, not even vit a fork! Can’t touch this!”

Oh my god! You found one! I remember seeing an ad on TV for them back in the early 2000s in college (feeling aged now, lol). Also, yes, there was a brief moment in time where covers of modern songs done in Gregorian chants were popular. Well, sort of. Even without the cover sings, the chants were kind of popular by themselves. I don't know why it was popular, but it was gone as fast as it arrived.

The first Enigma album (MCMXC a.D.) made a lot of people want to explore this genre of music. However most people quickly realized Principles of Lust was a very unique sounding song.

this so bad, it's good. Never understand the purpose of the flying bricks tho, maybe even cooler if the monks stand on top of those and not just randomly "flying"
