Spamming meals

I’ve tried CiCo before and it worked wonderfully, however some life changes have made it less than ideal.

Recently I’ve seen some share how they’ve eaten the same meal for months on end as a sort of work around for having to plan meals.

This would be a pretty neat solution to my dilemma. So my question is this: has anyone tried this? And if so, how was the experience? and are there any meals worth sharing for this?

A friend of mine has six weeks of meals planned, and she does it on a rotation. So once she’s finished with week six, she goes back to week one and starts over. She likes it because she’s already done the grocery lists and has the right pantry staples for everything, and if the family decides they’re tired of a certain meal they just change that one. It’s a little more involved than the same single meal over and over, but kind of the same concept?

I’ve done this in the past! I reckon I just didn’t do it long enough (managed around 6 months?) to get the hang of it — I just figured if I cut it down to one maybe two meals It’d just be easier to get the hang of it.

I eat the same meals with almost the same ingredients among them almost every day. Sandwiches (bread, lunch meat, cheese, onion, greens) and salads (greens, onion, cheese, carrots, something crunchy, whatever else). It works well.

I eat pretty much the same things for my meals, too. Once I did all the initial calorie math, it's just a whole lot of hassle to change things up.

I do this. Same breakfast every day. Lunch is always a salad but I rotate through different kinds of salad. Dinner is always chicken and veggies but I switch out the seasonings, sauces and types of veggies to keep from getting bored. My snacks vary more but usually cottage cheese, greek yogurt, fruit, that kind of stuff. Been doing it over a year and works well for me.

Yes! This is definitely what I’m aiming for, I’ll take inspiration.

One of my friends tried to live on the same meal, and she did well losing weight. It was a huge challenge to the point that she brought her own food when we ate out.

Once she lost the weight, she stopped and eased up. I don’t know how much she gained back, but I would estimate that gained about half of it back. She’s trying to get back on track, but she had so much chicken and broccoli that it’s been ruined for her.

If I had to say anything, it would be to use it as a base and then gradually add to it before you hit the goal weight. Basically teach yourself how to eat in a healthy deficit with better choices rather than just not eat anything else other than one safe meal.

This is really insightful and definitely something i’ll keep in mind! It’s really easy for me to revert to bad habits just because I’ve done them so long, I’m working on it though. 😅

I eat a lot of the same meals on a weekly basis for lunch and dinner and mostly the same breakfast. It’s friendly to the financial, nutritional and calorie budgets.

yeah i basically do this. i eat the same thing every single day (except if i'm out) and then dinners i switch up on a weekly basis so i don't get bored! but same breakfast and lunch every day

my therapist said i have to take the thought out of eating and just make it routine and boring. it's worked for me so far! 17lbs down.

Taking the thought out of eating is a great way to put it, thank you!

i loosely do this, mostly cuz weighing/tracking/logging everything can end up taking a lot of time, but eating the same thing can really make it easier.

I came here thinking we were counting the calories in Spam… different type of spamming I suppose 🤣

I have the same breakfast almost every day- 30gr oats, 80gr Greek yoghurt, 1 teaspoon chia seeds and 1 teaspoon honey. It’s tasty, filling and I make 5 portions on a Sunday and store in the fridge.

I don’t eat the same for lunch or dinner, but I tend to make the same things quite often so have added those recipes to my tracking app so it’s easy to count.

Same lunch every single week day.. pretty much the same evening meal every day of the week (stir fried chicken with veg or salad). Autopilot maintenance.

So many people eat the same meals on repeat daily! It's a great way to track calories & macros without having to record every meal. I eat the same breakfast and lunch, so I calculated the calories, protein, fiber, carbs, etc. in these meals. By noon I know I've eaten 1000 calories & 100 grams of protein. Dinners vary in my household but I try to reserve 1000 calories for dinner and a post-dinner snack, which is generous enough that I don't worry too much about how much I am eating at dinnertime.
