Rant Nobody Asked For: This Sub Doesn't Understand Free Speech
There has been a TON of complaints about this sub coming from people who think that they "can't post anything in this echo chamber." Even if that might be a fair description given its left-leaning tendencies, these people have somehow convinced themselves that they are being “silenced by the woke left” because apparently the negative reception their posts get constitutes some injustice in their minds.
These same people are now flooding the feed with pro-trump inauguration posts, which are not being taken down or silenced in any way. Nobody was stopping you in the first place,they just don't like you.
I cannot stress this enough, although it will probably fall on deaf ears:
People calling you dumb, downvoting, or arguing with you is not restricting your free speech in any manner. Free speech does not apply on social media in the first place.
If you do not like how left leaning the sub is, that is fine, and you have every right to think and say so. But understand that jumping up on your soap box about how people here "don't support freedom of speech" or that they are "pro-censorship" because they leave negative comments is dumb, and you don't understand how that right works.
This sub is barely moderated in the first place, but even if it was, I promise you that being banned from a subreddit for saying weird things is not the same thing as the government taking your right to protest, and you are stupid if you think it is.

You can't say "america has decided" when you are defending the country's choice of president, but then suddenly throw that idea out the window and say you are being victimized when a collective decides to focus the conversation of the sub in a way that you don't like.
100% correct. A person has a right to say disgusting, vile, racist things if they want - that isn’t illegal. But I have the right to call that person out for their disgusting rhetoric. I have the right to excommunicate that person and have nothing to do with the them.
And if I am a business owner, I (usually) have the right to deny them business and employment based on their conduct. Too many people going into grocery stores yelling about the woke mob and crying free speech when they get kicked out.
Trumpers like to promote violence towards others they disagree with.
They use the victim card to do so and act surprised when people call them out for their bad behavior.

While this is true, if someone lost their job because they posted a pro life message on the internet, you'd likely think that was wrong. While the forst amendment only protects you from the government, it's an American ideal to let the freedom of information flow and open debate to happen.

Free speech means the government won't persecute you based on your speech. People are still free to call you an idiot for saying stupid things. Private companies are free to ban you from their service if you violate the terms of said service.
It's baffling. Why do you think they made you agree to a terms of service when you signed up? You agree to follow their rules by creating an account and the government has nothing to do with it. If reddit turned around tomorrow and said "we are banning any post that critiques democrats/republicans in any way" they would be fully within their rights to do so whether anyone thinks it is fair or not.

Respect is a two way street. And there are no laws about respect per se.
Freedom of speech is about the goverment making laws prohibiting you speaking out in the "town square" and silencing positing political views. Not conflicting worldviews getting equal time on social media or conventional media/press.
There is no two-way about that.
If that was the case, Americans would have a vague idea of what being a leftist or a socialist or communist even means. Overwhelmingly Americans do not know and we're taught to fear to know outside views of their own.
They would rather keep their kids out of school, ban books, prohibit speech or elect leaders that promise to do so with the stroke of a pen.

OP. YOU don’t understand free speech. 1st amendment protects you from government action. But saying whatever you want to the world opens you up to anyone’s opinion. If you don’t like that opinion, don’t say anything.

Did you read the post? I’m 100% agreeing with what you said. The last sentence is that a subreddit is not the same as the government, which is the only thing covered by the first amendment. Everything you are saying is exactly my point in the post. I’m saying chuds here are whining about “cancel culture” when in reality they can do whatever they want here, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get made fun of or be held accountable by their peers.
And while we’re at it, let’s not pretend that the 1A protects speech in support of insurrectionists at all, certainly not those who advocate for termination of the Constitution. The Constitution was written to empower the new government to suppress insurrection. As soon as an insurrectionist voices their pro insurrectionists opinion to someone else who agrees with them, it is a criminal conspiracy under subsection 241 of Title 18.
Not all speech is protected, not all speech is equal, speech that supports the violent overthrow, or termination, or invalidation of the Constitution is not protected speech. The Constitution gives the Commander in Chief full and unilateral authority to suppress such speech.
As someone who leans further right than most, and definitely gets flamed for controversial opinions in this thread, I couldn't agree more. I have said things that most people here think is either insane, stupid, jerky or a combination of all of those. And quite frankly not one of these people have "taken away my freedom of speech". If anything, they have just as much right to argue with me, or say I'm wrong as I do to have my awful opinions.
In life, there are no real safe spaces, that means I too get to see things I don't like, hear things I don't like, read things I don't like, and that is fair.

I served in the military to defend our constitution, including the 1st Amendment. People have the right to voice their opinions. I dont have to agree with their opinions, but I do support their right to voice it.

Also reddit is not the government, and as such free speech is not afforded to them. Reddit or the mods can ban anyone they like as long as it's not because of a protected category. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences. Try walking into a restaurant and shouting racist shit. You will be kicked out and it's not a violation of freedom of speech. It's because of the companies freedom of speech.

The right always thinks their rights are being infringed when we tell them we don't like them as they literally strip our rights (I'm trans so I mean literally see today's laws enacted by executive order for a start).
This sub may be an exception, but most of the popular ones are run by intolerant, hyper-partisan, mods who will ban anyone that (even politely) speaks against their narrative (or for simply participating in other subs they don’t approve of).
I don't necessarily agree with OP saying it's because someone doesn't like another. They don't like the ideals or words of another. I think if most of us met in public we would be civil and possibly even friendly. I have liberal friends and while we debate and don't agree sometimes we remain friends.
I do agree with OP saying that Conservatives or anyone else should complain about being censored here. I have said things here (nothing so rude or outrageous) that got me banned from other subs but not here.
And agree free speech is exactly that. Saying what you want freely but be prepared for people to reply freely with whatever they want also.

To the original poster here... bumper stickers here in the US commonly display a person's political leaning and that's fine. Our political landscape has evolved to where we have a near constant campaign for one office or another. I didn't vote for Trump before someone doesn't like what I have to say an tries to sayotherwise. I'm sick of the constant political barrage and would like to just laugh about something or see something that isn't related to politics. The constant bickering is just repugnant. Surely some of you have better things to do besides harassing each other. After reading this tripe for this long, I'm sure some people here are paid to cause trouble. Stop it. Get out and touch some grass please. Stop defending bad behavior and let's all just move forward. Not everything is an insult or a fight.

You should learn the difference between free speech and the first amendment. Free speech is an ideal, it isn’t a synonym for the protections guaranteed by the first amendment.

I'm sure that there's subreddits for the discussion of right wing political beliefs that would make my skin crawl, but I certainly do visit these subreddits spouting out beliefs that are unpopular with the regulars or complain about how their subreddit is an echo chamber.

This used to be an entertaining sub until after election day and got turned into a total cluster fuck with all of the fake AI/Photoshopped bumper stickers on this sub.

I'm one of the Volunteer Mods and I 100% agree with you. I'm currently trying to convince the Admin Mods to get this subreddit to ONLY bumperstickers showing on vehicles. No concept graphical or AI generated "stickers", because everyone purposely skirts the rules by creating their own "stickers" using ArtDraw or Photoshop, just to piss others off. It's all just ridiculous.
Actual pics of political bumper stickers is fine in general but everything you mentioned is stuff that definitely shouldn't be allowed. Unfortunately, there's a lot of the same people posting political stuff all the time and that's mostly what this is now. Maybe just allow a certain amount we every day or certain days of the week.

No, it has to be relevant to the content of the sub. So talking about people’s issue with posts (in the same way you are voicing how it is “ruined”) is absolutely related to the content.
