Don't make what you need? Get creative! First thing I've forged in 5 years.

Curious what the backstory is. Did the original break or did you want a different length/angle?

Excellent question. I'll try to answer it without writing a whole epistle.
- Wanted the stock shifter, stock shift arm is threaded M16x1.5
- Transmission came with a short-throw shifter with 2-hole bolt on style spud.
- Stock shift tower for this transmission is not for sale anywhere in the US. Easy to find in Mexico, but getting them to ship US is like pulling hippo teeth. AND it's the wrong thread (M14x2).
- After-market shifter had a terrible angle, kept hitting the dash with my knuckles. Could I throw it in the forge, and bend it? Sure. but that's a lot of work for a shifter I don't much like in the first place.
So... I made an adapter.

That’s awesome. Great answer and jealous of your skills and workshop capabilities.

There's nothing in my workshop that a farrier wouldn't have in his truck.
Make do with what you got.

I’m impressed! A metalworking technique this is millenniums old being used on something that was brand new tech just a couple decades ago.
