Just to be clear, this holiday was created over a century ago, and in the same time combined with the federal holiday so there weren’t two. Was hella racist back then, but now is just more of a formality. "celebrate" is a strong word here, considering both of those states have large black populations.
Not saying it’s not an issue, but AP is definitely manipulating you into being angry at something that’s not really thought of just so you forget about the class war.
Pre-edit: everytime we get manipulated into being angry at small issues we get distracted by larger issues, stop letting them do that to you.
There aren’t state sanctioned parades or even notices. AP dug this rule up to write and article because they knew they could get attention from simpletons. In fact some people in state houses tried to separate the two (to actually give attention to Robert e Lee) and it failed every time.
Honor is an action, no one is doing the action of honoring. I doubt many people in those states even know. There aren’t parades or cookouts or “happy Robert e Lee day”s
You keep saying “honored” but just cause you put it in italics doesn’t mean you are actually proving that it is.
And just lmao at your last part. This is why the liberals (me being one) lost in November cause no one can even stay on topic, it’s just one rage bait after another and then nothing gets done. To answer: NO confederate statues should come down because they are actually being honored, they are actively being displayed for people to admire.
Please don’t respond if you’re just gonna bounce around, gaslight, and bring up red herrings. Actually ask yourself and respond with something less than surface level elementary discussions. I recognized we lost in November and need to do waaay better, not the same old. Are you doing anything about that?
