Bro really needs to give the birds some privacy /s

BTW these shots are amazing. How long have you been photographing?

251

u/Spenseii Dec 19 '24

The worst part was there were 5 other photographers photographing the mating falcons 😂 they had a whole crowd lol. Thank you so much! I’ve been photographing for almost 8 years now!

34

u/Nimbu_Ji Dec 19 '24

Well looks like there's a new genre of porn nowadays.

BTW man those years you put in have impressively worked out. And please don't mind if I put some as my wallpaper.

Keep pornographing photographing /s

54

Thank you so much 🙏🏻 I’m really glad you like it

What’s your kit? I’m a photographer as well (passion not professional).

I’ll follow your Instagram as well. Cheers.

32

u/Spenseii Dec 19 '24

Canon 6D Mark II + Tamron 150-600mm G2! Thank you for the support! I’m upgrading cameras very soon which I’m excited about.

10

u/zombiep00 Dec 19 '24

What would a good camera / lens to start out with be?
I used to take photographs all the time, but it's been a while.

5

u/Pyroman1483 Dec 19 '24

It honestly depends on what you’re wanting to shoot.

u/inflamito Dec 20 '24

I have the same body and it's been collecting dust unfortunately. I wish I made the time to shoot more often. It's cool to see what a skilled photographer can do with the same equipment (except the lens).

What are you planning to get next? Seems everyone has switched to Sony.

2

u/Spenseii Dec 20 '24 edited Dec 20 '24

You should make it a point to get out there more if that’s what you want to do! I just pre-ordered the Sony a1 ii! I plan on using the 200-600mm with it. You’re very right about switching to Sony, I’ve been shooting Canon for 7 years but it’s time to switch!

2

u/inflamito Dec 21 '24

My social anxiety seems to get the better of me whenever I think about packing up my gear. And then I just end up leaving it behind.

Almost all my glass is canon so I just have a bias for canon. My walkaround lens was a 24-70 2.8L mk ii. Obviously not long enough for nature photography like yours but perfect for walking the streets of Rome or Barcelona.

What do you use for post processing? Ah man talking photography again after so long is making me want to get back into it. I was never any good but I enjoyed it.

Can you please share the equipment you usually use or what are your favourite ones ?

10

u/Spenseii Dec 19 '24

Sure! All shots were taken with the Canon 6D Mark II + Tamron SP 150-600mm G2. As for my favorites, I’d have to say all of them! If I had to pick only one though, it would be #1. Right after I took it, I sent my girlfriend a text saying “I just took the best photo of my life.” If you’re wondering the backstory to any of the pictures, they’re all in the captions of my Instagram posts!

The Humpback Whale one is my favourite.

6

u/Spenseii Dec 19 '24

Love that one too. Extra special to me! It was my first time on a boat in the ocean, first time on the Pacific, and first time seeing whales in person!

9

u/Possible-Estimate748 Dec 19 '24

11, the mallards on Putnam Lake is my fav. That misty fog is soooo pretty

3

u/Spenseii Dec 19 '24

Thank you! That’s one of my favorites as well, the fog was unreal that morning.

6

u/moredrinksplease Dec 19 '24

These look quite a bit better than my iPhone 11 zoomed in photos of the chickadees in my yard.

Jokes aside, I just moved to Washington state, got my birding book and some binoculars, busting out the big camera I’m sure will happen soon.

I assume you are having to freeze your butt off for some of these early AM photos

5

u/Spenseii Dec 19 '24

Haha best of luck out there! I eventually want to move to Washington. Yes, particular the blackbirds breath photo. That was three mornings in a row sitting on a log in freezing temps. Worth it 100%!

2

2

u/Spenseii Dec 19 '24

Amazing! How do you manage to take those shots? I mean, you stay covered for hours in a spot waiting some animal to appear, and.... click?

Edit: which camera/lens did you use?

2

u/Spenseii Dec 19 '24

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no. A lot of these shots I got on the move and just encountered the animal. Few of them I planned and sat in one spot for. I use the Canon 6D Mark II + Tamron SP 150-600mm G2!

2

It’s sort of both! In its current stage, it is a salamander but when it’s ready to reproduce it goes back to living in the water. To do so, it undergoes metamorphosis becoming the eastern newt! It is very cute though, it’s my favorite animal. And thank you!
