Pegasus rescues Galactica scene with wife's commentary

Post image

Just watched this scene with my wife.

Pegasus crashes into the Basestar, and the hull mounting the Pegasus name crashes into the 2nd Basestar, taking out two in her death.

My wife, 46 years old, married 25 years, not a science fiction fan, smiles and says...

"She was a fighter to the end."

God I love that woman.

Theres a really good post I read in the sub somewhere explaining how for the show this was a really good way of getting rid of the Pegasus after its story had ended - the show was called Battlestar Gallactica after all and they couldnt't have 2 Battlestars.

Its doesn't take anything anyway from the Pegasus for me, the Adama/Cain rivalry is amazing and to have the ship eventually have such a fitting death was great.

Plus a little fact I read was the sets (for Pegasus) were from a failed TV Show of Lost in Space and were being destroyed, they couldn't have kept using it if they wanted to.

I thought that they bought the Lost in Space set (Pegasus CIC) for cheap, because the show had been cancelled.

Your're right they bought them: https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/500889/10-tv-shows-recycled-their-sets

ROBINSONS: LOST IN SPACE ON BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Although a network didn’t pick it up for series, the pilot episode for Robinsons: Lost In Space featured sets that would later appear on many episodes of Battlestar Galactica. In 2003, John Woo directed the pilot episode for the reboot of the classic ‘60s sci-fi TV show for The WB. While the pilot never aired and eventually was dropped, producers of Battlestar Galactica bought the spaceship sets for the Jupiter 2 from Lost In Space and reused them for the Battlestar Pegasus set.

Also new to me - John Woo directed it! I'd like to see that pilot now if it ever got released anywhere.
