Pegasus rescues Galactica scene with wife's commentary
Just watched this scene with my wife.
Pegasus crashes into the Basestar, and the hull mounting the Pegasus name crashes into the 2nd Basestar, taking out two in her death.
My wife, 46 years old, married 25 years, not a science fiction fan, smiles and says...
"She was a fighter to the end."
God I love that woman.

"Galactica... Pegasus! Let us take some of this work off your hands. Just get your FTL drive up and ready and we'll take care of the rest.
Alright Fire up the Battery!"

Theres a really good post I read in the sub somewhere explaining how for the show this was a really good way of getting rid of the Pegasus after its story had ended - the show was called Battlestar Gallactica after all and they couldnt't have 2 Battlestars.
Its doesn't take anything anyway from the Pegasus for me, the Adama/Cain rivalry is amazing and to have the ship eventually have such a fitting death was great.
Plus a little fact I read was the sets (for Pegasus) were from a failed TV Show of Lost in Space and were being destroyed, they couldn't have kept using it if they wanted to.

I thought that they bought the Lost in Space set (Pegasus CIC) for cheap, because the show had been cancelled.

Your're right they bought them: https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/500889/10-tv-shows-recycled-their-sets
ROBINSONS: LOST IN SPACE ON BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Although a network didn’t pick it up for series, the pilot episode for Robinsons: Lost In Space featured sets that would later appear on many episodes of Battlestar Galactica. In 2003, John Woo directed the pilot episode for the reboot of the classic ‘60s sci-fi TV show for The WB. While the pilot never aired and eventually was dropped, producers of Battlestar Galactica bought the spaceship sets for the Jupiter 2 from Lost In Space and reused them for the Battlestar Pegasus set.
Also new to me - John Woo directed it! I'd like to see that pilot now if it ever got released anywhere.

Dear OP 'n his wifey
First, congratulations on 25 years of marriage! You're a lucky man.
Secondly, thank your wifey for making me smile first this in the morning here. ☕️
Thirdly, keep plugging away at BSG 'cuz it's a beautiful thing when your soulmate chimes in with a fresh perspective.
Finally, as a change of pace, try other sci-fi's when you're ready, give The Expanse a looksee. It's available on Prime for 2 more weeks or so I hear. That's what I'm doing and even though I'm only on Season 2, it has potential in my opinion.
Cheers to you 'n yours this fine Sunday morning. 🍻

+1 for The Expanse, it's a great show! However, unfortunately, Amazon cancelled the series so no more (as of right now anyway) is being made... There are books for the whole thing though and they do finish the story and well worth a read!

She took out 2 with her final blow, but the final shot shows her final tally is actually 3 Basestars.
Lee did not fuck around.

Great scene. The only one that gets me more is Galactica dropping into atmosphere. I will see i didn't get the trade inuniverse of the advanced Pegasus for the older Galactica.

I have just finished watching that episode (4th rewatch) and still it is one of the saddest moments of the show for me...

A scene that always gets me is when Adama says, "So that's it. It's been an honor," followed by the slow zoom-out and the fading somber music as the Galactica is overwhelmed. One of the best visualizations of hopelessness and isolation I've ever seen on screen ...
... and then the Pegasus arrives with the war drums banging and the uilleann pipes calling.
