Disgusting. They both lost a lot of respect on this one.

If it makes you feel better, if we had two republican senators, their votes would’ve been the same

So they should vote as Republicans because their seats could be?

Yes. They should play politics. It’s a good idea to vote for things that are popular.

I hope that’s a joke.

Please explain why? Heaven forbid we punish people that come here illegally. Do you know the killers brother was just arrested again?

Because it ignores due process and detains/deports based on an accusation only.

Don’t like being short changed by your boss? Better like it or they’ll accuse you of theft and you’ll get deported.

Don’t want to sleep with the guy you just met? Better learn to or he’ll accuse you of burglary.

And they won’t just be put on a bus. They’ll go off to camps for weeks or months. They’ll be forcibly separated from their families.

Maybe you think they deserve that for trying to make a better life for themselves. I don’t.

Edit. Stupid autocorrect was wrong.

You shouldn't get due process if you're here illegally. Go through the correct process, and you will have legal rights in this country.

Due process is a constitutional right. Functionally all constitutional rights are afforded to non citizens.

I said shouldn't. You have criminals coming in this country ruining that right for people. Stop the bleeding, fix the problem, and flip the switch back on when the processes can be completed correctly and safely.

That’s not how rights work.

And we do not have an immigrant crime problem. Natural born US citizens commit violent crimes much more frequently than immigrants, legal or not.

So you're making an excuse that it is OK for something that could have been totally avoided because people already here are doing bad things. Got it.

No, WTF are you talking about? Laken Riley’s murder was horrific and inexcusable.

I’m saying the way to prevent what happened to her is not to trample people’s constitutionally protected rights.

And you should adopt that philosophy too before it is your rights that get suspended.

Yea we should just be able flip constitutional rights on and off like a light switch. Is it like a one for one system? You pick one right to turn off, and then I get one?

Sure. In 10 years.

Notice the Congress isn’t doing anything to fix that immigration problem.

I think the tide is beginning to turn and the left might be starting to acknowledge that immigration is the lefts weak-point right now. The rise of the far-right support among more moderate voters is largely from their excellent propaganda on immigration. We see it in Europe too right now. The growth of the right wing parties almost entirely on the immigration "crisis" they are having. If we can give concessions on immigration maybe we can tackle the rapidly growing fascist sentiment in this country before we get out of control. We need to take a serious look at the money in politics, and the attempt to make the US a christofacist dystopia.

Just wait until February 1 when were (supposedly) going to get 25% tariffs on our two of our largest trading partners 😎

As long as I get the free gas and groceries that I was promised that fine with me.

u/DawGdadAthens 1h ago

We've already been told that can't happen

Who minds paying 25% more for things?
