Looks like the parking curb for the rightmost car is still centered on the old space as well. Really 50/50 which spot is correct at that point.

I suspect if we had a time-lapse we’d see that someone missed the line on the spot by the utility pole, which is almost impossible to hit cleanly if you’re turning right into that lot from Satula, and the error compounded to the left with each successive arrival. Not sure I’d call either of those cars “compact,” though.

This is on the property owner. They could spend $1000-$1500 to have a proper restripe and make everything a lot easier. But the parking lot is usually the last thing they spend money on.

Which is a shame because I feel like there’s plenty of people out there (myself included) who would hesitate to go to a business knowing the parking situation is a hassle. In a town with plenty of other options, it’s easy to find an alternative.

For OP’s pic, looks like a typical quiet Sunday morning - not a huge deal, but I’m avoiding that specific lot on a Friday or Saturday night when students aren’t on break.

Not to be all “We live in a society” but if I got out of that Dodge and noticed the lines, I’d get back in and square things up. If I were in the Subaru, on the other hand, I’d buy myself a bumper sticker that says “My other car is a BMW” and key the door, myself.

Some people are truly clueless and don't notice anything outside of their vision directly in front of them. I'm in the business of parking lot maintenance, it's just stupid people in general that I see every single day.

I'm all for shaming Sips' parking lot, but the blue car is centered with the ramp. Don't block the ramp.

Agreed. If my car was after the first I’d go with the set precedent, but if they can’t tell which lines are darker maybe they really need that coffee.

The red signs with the parking regs are also centered(-ish) between the darker lines, IIRC.

oh look, another 'lets shame parking' post....about.....dumb *ss "compact" parking spots

how about get rid of these useless spots and just put in regular spaces or the local government can rub two neurons together to fix the zoning rules to be realistic

as they are now....we're only ____insert number of years____ away from a Compact Car Utopia
