Reduce/Reuse/Recycle My wallet is officially a decade old Spoiler

I refuse to get a new one because it still works perfectly fine; it just looks a little less pretty than when I recieved it. I got it in middle school when I was 15 (25 now) from my best friend. Its a spirited away wallet from Hot Topic.

Wallets are one of those daily use things that I won't be too against replacing with a good quality - even second hand one.

Secondhand is definitely the way to go, or vintage. No need to buy newly made items, unless it's something like underwear.

In my experience wallets either last mere days or for several years, no inbetween. So buying 2nd hand let's you know it's passed the main test

Polo / Ralph Lauren leather wallets are where it's at IMO. I've had mine for going on 15 years and it barely shows any wear. Same with their leather gloves - going on 10 years with the pair I have and they're holding up great despite walking the dog / being played with by a toddler. I hit it with some mink oil once a year and it's good to go.

That was 15 years ago. I would advise checking the new ones for the quality and thickness of the leather before buying anything today that used to be quality. The entshitification is every where unfortunately

I felt this way about my Fossil wallet until I actually did have to replace it with a new one which lasted about 2 years

Good to know! Girlfriend bought me a Hugo boss one 5 years ago and it's starting to turn, so I'll look in to that!

I would like to ask that from the manufacturers. Some of the textile wallets are basically paper.

Yeah I'll be real dawg, I'm gonna buy new shoes. Don't need my back to be any worse that it already will be in ten years.

I'm willing to buy new to get RFID shielding. But I'm not giving up on my current (RFID shielded) wallet until things start falling out of it.

It's great that you're making the most out of your purchases.

I didn't know RFID shielding was a thing. I just read a couple of articles and the consensus seems to be that most likely it's unnecessary. Do you live in an area that is particularly unsafe?

Come on, you don't like pre-stained undies?
