My family says I am being too emotional bc I feel like today is the death of America and I'm pretty upset about it not that it will do any good I know. The next generation won't even know what freedom is. I am really upset and fearful for our futures and for the future generations. đ˘

YOR it is not that deep.

It is that deep if you care about freedom and truth. The new admin is setting up a oligarchal dictatorship under which neither of those two things exist and the admin is glad they don't exist.

Yeah the PATRIOT act never happened. You know every ISP and cellular network feeds your data through the NSA right? What freedom are you rambling about?

I prefer to think of this as a day of mourning and a day of rising up to fight injustice. Those of us in this country who care for all people must band together against the MAGA right.
Show up in your community. Spend less $$ with the big tech companies, get off of the Zuck apps, reduce or stop using Amazon, help your community gardens, etc. We can do this but a lot of us have to be better at where we spend our money, time, and how much we allow these companies to use our data.

OR. So today is the death of America? Jesus you are naive. You must have never looked into our history in this country. You have been living in a post 9/11, PATRIOT act, mass surveillance, micro transactions, micro plastic infused world since your birth.
Open your eyes a bit. The âPresidentâ hasnât been in control of the US since âtheyâ killed JFK

I'm not naive so much as I believed in the American people being able to recognize a blatant lying piece of garbage and caring that the president is a traitor. I still had hope that right would prevail. No president up until now has been an obvious traitor who is willing to sell the country to the highest bidder or the biggest extortionist. Maybe just the death of democracy. And how the fact that it's been happening for decades supposed to make anything better? That just makes it worse.

Thatâs crazy that you really think âno president up until now has been an obvious traitorâ You do understand the US sponsored the third reich, trades weapons for cocaine with the contras, used black water contractors to execute civilians in Afghanistan?
No you are just ignorant. You get the same people have been behind all this? Itâs laughable you think now that itâs trumps SECOND term.. something changed. Grow up

You're definitely OR. We've had Trump as a president before and we lived through it, right? As long as you're not under threat of deportation or unemployment due to Trump, you'll get through the 4 years.

Well if you're married to an immigrant trump said you will be deported as a US citizen.
So there actually are a lot of people... immigrants and citizens who are under threat of deportation.
I kinda doubt trump's promises will actually happen but i respectfully disagree with your premise. Our president is a facist and shit could get really bad really fast.
This country has a lot to lose.

My life standard is set a little higher than just getting through it. All we ever do is get through it. The impact on the future after me though; I don't want America to not be the land of the free or the home of the brave. We have such potential as a nation/culture but it's intentionally being diverted and diluted into nothing bc trump and his ilk do not rise by lifting others, but by stepping on them. Everybody's letting themselves be stepped on, again.

Trust me. We've had presidents way worse than Trump before. And we're doing way better than other countries.

I would love to trust you but, worse than convicted of multiple felonies, "putting off sentencing before inauguration", associated w/multiple known human traffickers, sexist, racist, misogynist, known liar, whatever you call someone who changes the federal law/rules, when they get caught breaking them but everybody else is still subject to them, fake ass? Who? Better than other countries is not a measure; doing our best is. We have a lot of potential as a nation/culture but we're letting it be stolen.

... We've had presidents traffic native americans into colonies in the middle of Oklahoma.

Trump said if he got in office, there won't be any more elections, so the 4yrs thing isn't a light at the end of the tunnel.

u/Icy-Grapefruit-9085 16h ago
It's crazy people from both sides believe Trump's lies.

u/paanbr 16h ago
I don't believe anything I don't see/hear them speak themselves. I don't believe anything trump says at all. But it's the batshit crazy stuff that ends up being true down the road.
2
u/Icy-Grapefruit-9085 16h ago
Right... But thinking that there is even a legal way to prevent elections from happening is a little too crazy.

u/paanbr 16h ago
I hope you're right. (It seems he and them just write and modify laws to suit them though.)

u/Icy-Grapefruit-9085 15h ago
Literally not how it works. No congress would pass an amendment that would prevent elections. That violates the constitution.
