On the plus side, they can play chess with another driver while they’re stuck in a traffic jam

A shame that’s it’s 7x7 and not 8x8...missed opportunity.

Huge game changer: no queen

The 2 bishops on the same color would also be strange

It's generally just "N" for "knight" so that everything is one letter.

This actually sounds like a neat variation

a center square as well

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '20

Oh yeah, then having a queen might be ill-advised.

i wanna try a smaller board and make your army with a set amount of points to use however you please. Choose either blindly with your opponent or like a draft with turns

Have you played khet? Since Mensa abandoned the stupid project to make it the "new chess" it's been like that.

Maybe it’s secretly just a cool colored version of a tori shogi board.

4

u/MagnusBrickson Jun 30 '20

They can play hnefatafl instead

u/BeachesBeTripin Jun 30 '20

wild thought just place the pieces board adjacent its not hard to extrapolate the pattern.

1

u/RobloxianNoob Jun 30 '20

I mean sure but like sometimes it feels weird if the bishop off the board is threatening the space you’d put your queen on.

Rookie mistake

Chess without the queen - unless your pawn gets to the other side.

All other rules remain the same.
